Do they have a Tetris poker game? I thought not. Another win for the lottery. I wouldn't even be upset that I wasted $2 on one of those tickets.

The odds are only better if you possess some skill. If you just walk in there thinking you'll win, you'll probably lose.

of course your odds are better...but you don't win as much

I say screw the lottery and go to the casino and play card games. Your odds are way better, yes WAY better.

And if you're wondering how the game works...

You scratch off the top portion and reveal 11 Tetris pieces out of a possible 19 (you know, all 7 blocks twisted every which way). Then you scratch the corresponding pieces off on the bottom portion. If you make a line, you win a prize. If you get a double, triple or Tetris, you get bonuses. (For example, I think a triple is $10 + whatever you win on those 3 lines.)

SomerZ: I think that's a good front page. Certainly better than war or famine or anything like that. It's a feel-good thing.

Best pic of the Tetris scratch I could get, sorry.

Colin, you have Tetris scratch off tickets? That's pretty awesome. I still wouldn't buy them, but I'd want to.

Interestingly enough, VG (the biggest newspaper in Norway), had a thing on its front-page only a couple of days ago about a guy in his early twenties winning the national lottery. Now, VG is a crap newspaper with crap descicions when it comes to front-pages, but still, when they actually make a front-page story about a lottery-winner being young (his age was the focus of the story), then you know it's a rare occurence.

From what I hear though, you have pretty good odds of winning SOMETHING with the scratchers. Might not be millions, but I'd take thousands any day.

Heck, my mom wins $2 on practically every third one.

I just got an idea. Not related to the main topic, but it's about lotteries. Couldn't a city set up a lottery, and give the winning ticket to someone affiliated with the city, and basically channel free money into the city?

I'd be amazingly suprised if that hasn't happened before and there is a law against it, but still. I forgot where I was going with this... maybe it had something to do with gambler's ruin and house edge, I don't recall...

You didn't fix the rest of the post, though.

...shit. I felt as though I screwed up a post sometime today, I just didn't know which. It's fixed now, though.

Yeah, it's the other way with most lotteries. I'm sure that some which don't have 49 numbers or so might have similar or better odds, but for most of them you'll likely get zapped first.

My mom would get those for me all the time when I was younger until something happened that made us stop getting them. Lately she's gotten a few, but we haven't had any luck. I had more luck as a child than my mom is having now.

The Tetris one they have here is so good... *_*

I haven't played one of those since I was a kid. I used to have a family friend who used to buy them for me on birthdays and such.

I don't tend to bother with them now... see them as a waste of money actually
