yeah i too liked hexposure so here's one i coded up. just like it but for windows. the only thing is i never got around to finishing the relative search function.

I'll echo the Windhex32 statement. I learned on Snowbro's Hexposure program; Windhex simply feels like a Windows evolution of the program. It's intuitive, very easy to use, fast, and quite small so I can have multiple instances of it stacked on top of each other.

I prefer cygnus and gold finger. But gold finger is much easier to use than cygnus. Gold finger is a good choice for someone who is new to hex editing. |

i use Hex Workshop.
... a version from 1996. it's nice, and comes with different radix conversions and a hex calculator. i like it. |

I'd recommend XVI32. It's what I use, anyway.
Zophar's still is frozen in a "hack-a-system-from-a-less-advanced-one" time, it seems. They haven't been updated for months, if not years. |

Well, firstly, don't use NESticle because it's old, outdated, and crappy; there are modern tools that far surpass it. As for why the palette changes won't save in NESticle, NESticle's palette editing doesn't actually edit palettes. Rather, it changes how NESticle displays that color. The NES has 64 colors (though a bunch of those are blacks), and in a hex editor you can change the values that define which of these colors to use. NESticle will allow you to change what colors the emulator displays for each particular color. It's pretty useless.
As far as hex editors go, I highly recommend Hex Workshop, but there are a few snags. It doesn't support table files, I've noticed that it sometimes crashes after saving (or rather, it does on my machine, anyway), and it's not free. There should be cracks available, if you want to get around the third in the list. Alternatively, I think you could use the FCEUXD hex editor and save with it, but since I don't use it, I don't really know much about it. |

Yes I'm new. But WTF all the hex editors @ zophar's domain are all dos-only! I DID try Jinx and Thingy32, but Jinx had no helpfile and Thingy32 with a table file STILL cannot do anything! And Nesticle isn't any help either, only keeping the palette modifications until you exit. Any help?
