You know, because I didn't want to discuss about 'how to sneak in to my computer and restart it' some pages, I just restarted it.
I haven't tested it, but I think the monitor problem is resolved now... EDIT: Yay! It works! |

Oh, those things. Yeah, that doesnt warrant a wiped hard drive. Couldnt you reboot the system while no one is using it? Like at night or something? |

Before I format my computer, I'd rather keep it and turn off the monitor manually. It isn't that hard anyway.
Oh, and the booting problems aren't big, just some old junk from a software I removed long ago that constantly tries to start itself from the bootsector but fails (obviously). |

Sounds like you need to wipe the computer and start from scratch anyway. |

No, I can't because of two reasons:
1. This computer isn't used only for internet surfing. It is used for beta testing, audio/video editing, N64 emulation and alike. And because I often run these processes in the background (thank you HyperThreading), I can't shut down the computer. Oh, this computer is also in a network for sharing files... 2. My computer has some problems with booting... have to fix it, don't know when I'll come to it. |

You can't just reboot now? ![]() |

Tried it, again didn't work.
I think I just need to restart the computer, though I'm not sure when this will be done (maybe in September...) |

when I leave my computer on running long enough, it won't activate screensaver nor the monitor power down mode. So, what I usually end up doing is to just change the minutes to the nearest setting. So, if I have a screen saver that activates in 1 minute, I change it to 2. If I have power-save monitor mode set to 2 minutes, I move it to 5 mintes. |

Nice idea, but my screensaver is already disabled. |

I have a similar problem; I turn mine off using NirCmd, but when I come back into the room about half an hour later, it's on and the screen saver is running. ![]() |

Hi,
for some reason the monitor doesn't want to turn off automatically when I don't do anything anymore. It just stays on forever. I checked any settings (I have Windows XP, BTW) and they are correct (monitor turns off after 20 minutes), but the monitor still stays on forever. While I can turn off the monitor manually, I liked the old behavior more. Is there something I can do? |
