Oh, and what version gameshark do you have? I have version 3.30

Crappy software patched into places it doesn't belong (games aren't exactly designed for that ) controlling crappy hardware. And 3.3[0] is the latest N64 version, which I have.

I had the very same problem. I hadn't used my GBC gameshark in a long time then one day i used it and it kept going white(just like you shadow tails). The problem (for me) seemed to be that the GS wasn't inserted in a right position. At least I think so becuase it wouldn't load normally. It took me like 30 min for me to get it in the right position. Then when it finally loaded all the data was deleted. So I had to put in the codes for the games I had. I have 2 GBC Game Sharks and both of them crashed. The GBA Gameshark always worked perfectly though.

I had a permenant crash within 5 minutes of getting it back after having it fixed from the previous one. (I didn't have a computer that could do it. )

GBA ones are newer, too, so that's a possible reaosn right there.

I've nevr had a permanent crash, but I have had some crAshes where it tok half an hour of fiddling to get it to boot.

I can confirm GBC Gamesharks being unstable too. I was using one normally, and eventually, it just didn't work. Sometimes, a screen with "manual upgrade" would pop up. I got a new one that didn't screw up, however.

GBA ones seem to be the most stable out of them all. The N64 ones were extremely prone to crashing permanently. My PS2 Gameshark disc got scratched up horribly, although that was more than likely a result of it being a blue disc. Many other blue disc games seem to have similar problems. I'm sure we can all guess who to blame on that one. The one thing it did do is mess up some game files when I tried to use the compression features, but that was my fault. Other than that, it never failed me until my PS2 failed me by scratching it up.

first check the switch on top if you haven't. I know that one setting diables it altogether...

But I've never had problems with my N64 gameshark. no problems usually... although it does pout every once and a while. Once all the codes disappeared off it... but they were back in full force after rebooting. wierd shit.

I could tell you a few many, many stories about Gamesharks breaking, corrupting themselves, or otherwise screwing up for no apparent reason.

I know how that feels. My N64 Gameshark never cooperates with me. I can get it working every so often, but it's usually not worth the effort. I think I should download/dump all the games I can and use an emulator. However, I'd probably need to one of my brothers' vastly superior computers.

I agree with ya there... oh well guess I can have fun throwing it away... it is the 4th of july tommarow =P just find some fireworks and show the gameshark how to blow up...

This is the 3rd one I've been through, and it just now dies on me... oh well...

In my experience, the GameShark is somewhat inherently unstable a device to begin with, and I have lived through several of them just.. burning out on me. Or their internal memory somehow buggering up and causing crashes when trying to load the saved code list..

In short, it is probably a lost cause I think..

today I was just wanting to give some moves to my nidoqueen, and when I tried to use my gameshark, the gameboy thing went through and all, then the screen just went white, and no gameshark logo appeared... so I kept trying, I tried everything, the gameboy is reading it, but its not working, It was working just fine yesterday, its a version 3.1 any ideas? or should I just throw it away and hell with it?

Oh yeah and it is a GBC one just in case you don't know what I'm talking about, and its on pokemon gold, and this thing was working fine yesterday...
