You know its endpoint by adding its starting point and the size of the data =P

Also, this method can ONLY work in a shrunk file (Dolphin shrinker or GCTool shrinker) anyway. If you put it in a non-shrunk file, data gets messed up.

Well, how do you know when it ends, and what if you want to fit in a smaller sized rom? Would you have to expand it? Or just replace the spare old rom data with 00's.

It's not really that tedious. All you need to do is search for the first $200 or so bytes of the original file in the ARC, and when you find a match just replace the data.

Ah, the long tedious way ;;

ARCs actually have no compression at all. You just have to search for a little bit of the original data in the ARC, and when you find it just replace the old data with the new data.

I have a question. I used rarcdump to dump the contents of Famicom.arc, as it is much better to do this, but how do you recompress it back into an .arc file?

You have to wait a little. Games are slow to boot in Dolphin.

This also reminds me; for the best speed possible in Dolphin, you should enable the 'Use dynarec' option. It makes everything much faster.

I was gonna try out that patch, but I can't actually get Dolphin to work. I've got a 128 mb onboard graphics card, and it says it should work great, but I'm always left with a white screen.

1. Get szstools 1.0 and btidump from http://www.amnoid.de/gc/index.html.

2. Put forest_2nd.arc in the same folder as szstools 1.0.

3. Use rarcdump to dump the contents of forest_2nd.arc.

4. Put the texture you want to view in the same folder as btidump.

5. Using btidump, dump the .bti into a .dds file.

6. Get a .dds viewer (they're easy to find).

7. View the .dds you got from btidump, and you'll be viewing the texture.

Then how to edit them? Convert .dds into lets say .bmp, edit and make .bmp into .dds?? (No i'm totaly new to the stuff in this thread).

If the torrent lets you download roms, yes.

Tanks: Yes, you can.

I also think I've found the actual emulator used to run the NES games in Animal Crossing. It's 1.UNP (if you decompress famicom.arc with Yaz0 Kit), and is an ELF file. It doesn't seem to run in any emulator, though...

On another note, I've inserted Pac-Man in place of Soccer in Animal Crossing. I haven't tested it yet, as the framerate in Dolphin is too unbearable for me to finish working in Nook's shop so I can start saving. Here's an IPS:
