Actually, I had a very similar problem when I set my CPU speed too high. If you've messed with anything like that recently, try setting it back to how it was. Also, again, check for driver and firmware updates. If none of that helps, you probably need a new video card.

For a laptop, I cannot think of anyone who would... I'll just have to take this thing to Mr. Notebook or something. It's working fine now but I fear it'll happen again when I shut it down. I usually leave this on stand by.

That looks like bad video RAM to me. I had an old SVGA card that did something similar when its RAM went bad.

Any chance you can borrow a video card from someone for testing purposes?

Here's a little eye crapola for you guys... brace yourselves...

BTW, I did do a windows update on my computer... maybe I'll restart and see what happens.

For some reason there's a 50% chance I can go to websites when this happens. When I cannot get on, a message will pop up saying the program needs to be restarted or it'll exit automatically. That's why I couldn't just post my picture online.

Besides that, my resolution shrinks down to 800x400 and the colors look ugly. These noisy pixelated bars come up and flash different colors and patterns, making things VERY hard to see, like a fuzzy television screen.

I'll try to google it somehow and yes, it does show up on the screenshot. If I could only get it on photobucket without my browser crapping out, you'll get a better idea.

Check for video driver updates. I had some major graphic glitches that turned out to be a buggy driver. Also, see if the distortion shows up in a screenshot.

I tried looking this problem up myself but no luck.

(I cannot post the picture for some reason but whenever I can, I will show you the ugliest thing ever...)

I know this has to be some sort of hardware glitch. I have no viruses on my machine. This happens everytime I restart or shutdown my computer which is why I usually leave it on standby. I cannot rely on a restart... it usually takes days or even weeks for this to clear up.
