Of course it fucking was there, as I posted it for such reason.

Archive?

I don't see it in SMW hacking, only requests for custom blocks.

that posst is headed, "Rules of this forum, and useful advice/links (revised)"

it has absolutely no links to the archive

I have already read that post, so I would know

Have you bothered to read it, you would have noticed there was a nice link saying:

Glyph Phoenix' ASM tutorial - http://board.acmlm.org/archive/thread.php?id=15489
A simple guide to the basics of ASM.

Down in the SMW hacking forum, there is a thread designed around learning ASM hacking, unless it's on the archive...

I guess I would have wanted to do both, and I was just looking for a tutorial, not just general info.

ASM hacking --> Editing the ASM code already in a game to do something else

ASM coding --> Writing new code, either for the above or for any other ASM-involving project.

what is ASM coding vs. hacking, as in what do both mean?

Either here or ROM hacking I suppose. Technically ASM hacking is hacking ROMs by reprogramming them, so... I guess it depends mainly on whether you're looking for how to find and modify ASM in the ROM, or just general info on the language itself ("ASM hacking" vs "ASM coding").
