Ok. Iīve put together a syste for you. Divide the prices with 7 to get whatīd itīd cost you. Itīs not 100% accurate, though. 
Question 1: Iīll post the picture of what Iīd buy below. Question 2: When you look at AMD processors (those are what I prefer) you donīt look at the 3500+ or something number. The real speed is written after that one, like in the picture I posted. Of course, the more expensive a motherboard is, the more you can do with it, attach to it, etc. Most of the descriptions are numbers and shit I donīt undertsand myself so I canīt help you much with the motherboard. The thing you should look for on RAM memories is the bus speed and how much memory it is. The faster the bus speed (like the 533Mhz one in the picture) stands for how fast the memory is and the 1gb part how much it can work with without problems. You shouldnīt press it too much, though. Question 3: Well, in the future, 512mb graphics cards will be more common but for now theyīre incredibly expensive and you donīt need them for the newest games. I always buy stuff of brands I recognize. Like ATI cards and such things. The memories you should look for are either DDR, DDR2 or DDR3.

1. Pentium 4, actually. Add hyper-threading and dual cores, and that gives you 4 virtual cores (well, I read about a processor like that a few months ago), maybe 512/256MB or RAM ('cuz most of my gaming is older games), lower-end video card (older card, not much RAM at all),DVD burner. I have all the rest already.
2. For the processor and Motherboard, I'd look at the Processor's clock speed and the FSB (Front-Side Bus) speed, and I've never had to work with RAM mch, other thna my old EDO DRAM's latency timing... 3. Perhaps SLI videocards, PCI-E Mobos... That's all I can think of. |

...a computer. My old machine died late last year and I haven't had the money to replace it until quite recently. I know just a bit about hardware, but I have a basic idea of how I want the machine to turn out:
I have about $1,200 grand to spend, and although I would like to use the money as efficiently as possible, I really want to make this machine solid. I already have a Sound Card, Mouse, Keyboard, NIC Card, and various other paraphanalia left over from my previous computer which I may or may not replace at another time. My primary concern is the Processor, Motherboard, RAM, and Video Card at the moment. As I said, I know just a bit about hardware, but probably not enough to really put together a tight package. My questions to all of you are:
