Horrible idea. Post count doesn't matter. If you had 800 posts, then a mod made it say you had 700, whoopdeedoo. No one cares.

I agree that this is a very simple concept to grasp, and that failure to grasp it shows a fundamental lack of normal social understandings and values. However, you'd be surprised at how many people fail to grasp this concept. People can get obsessed with amazingly trival shit.

If I had a board, I would have no postcounts at all, but that's slighty off-topic.
I like them simply because I can look at posts from long ago and get a general idea of who's still around and who isn't, or an approximate date of a post

It's over where the rest of the information is anyway, so it's easy to interpet (at least to me)

The only problem there really is with post counts is that deleting posts doesn't decrease them. Other than that, who cares?

Yeah... we aren't too concerned about postcount, if someone spams they'll get warned/banned for it, and a large majority of the board will yell at them for it. So it's really not a problem. And admins can, if we really wanted to, change postcounts, so we don't need a new mod to do it.

You're right about my signature. I obviously have no idea what sarcasm is.

OBJECTION!

There is clearly a contradiction between your statement and your signature, Kario!

That's a horrible idea, Darkdata. Especially since it's just BEGGING to be abused, even if you say otherwise.

And by the way; admins can already set a user's postcount through edituser.php, so there is no need for mods to have that power.

It's a simple idea really.
Gives some moderators the abilty to bring down post count.
This power will of course will not be abused in any way.

It could be used for:
*Taking down post count of someone who has spamed.
*Taking down the post count of someone who had their thread moved to the pit of Despair
*
There are probally other uses that I am not thinking of now .

Then again.. I am not a moderator so I would not know if that would be helpful.

[Tosses the idea out into the open]

Edit: My Signature look like it was causing a bug.(Removed)
