which bit should I change of it though?

Rightio, so address 0x7F27 to 00 or EA.

I had an Idea about the spitting hammers...

I THINK (but I'm not sure) I saw hammers in sprite tweaker, but I cannot be certain. So if you changed it to not hurting Mario, and put mario as spitting it or whatever, it wouldn't hurt him. Only problem is getting it to hurt enemy sprites... Any ideas??

My advice is to change 0x7F27 to 00. If it doesn't work, try EA.

Seriously though, SMO received appreciation because it was one of the few hacks released that were good in nearly all aspects one could think of... assembly modifications en masse, awesome graphics and level design.

Back on topic... I wonder how hard it would be to (ab-)use the bubbles code to make small gameplay-irrelevant effects like sprites releasing puffs of smoke.

I really should get back into SMW hacking.

Glyph's nowhere near as good as BMF.

Well, you've made your ASM hack which makes Mario Throw the Fireballs up first. Combining that and the offset change we'd have a Mario Throwing Hammers!
Which would, of course hurt Mario .

But yeah, I think you're as good as BMF. Glyph Artifacts = Hooo dandy!

Wow, I got mentioned alongside BMF. I've always thought of myself as one of those angry pundits on the outskirts of Super Mario Town while BMF is the mayor.

I should work on making a throwable hammer sprite for Mario. 'course, I end up not doing the vast majority of things I should, so...

Yeah, it'd be possible.
And as Ghetto stated, Hammers hurt Mario.
But I'm quite sure someone will make an ASM hack which allows Mario to throw fully functional Hammers without getting hurt. *Cough* BMF or Glyph Phoenix *Cough*

There has.
Like when I found the ROM address "What Sprite hammer Brother Throws". That's 04 = Hammer.
I remember changing it to something like, 02 and then he threw Fireballs.
Also, I remember one hack which had a hammer-spitting Jumpin' Piranha Plant.
