Cara Zeltina, the only thing though, is that he said a very long time a go that it was also "almost done", but it was "cancled" and almost soon after, was when news spread around that it was a hoax. There is no solid proof presented yet--there are people who remember the situation where he was found out, there are people who know people involved in the project (directly, indirectly, willing or otherwise), but asside from that it dosn't seem like we can offer any real solid proof.
I like to go by the theory of innocent until proven otherwise, however, in my personal opinion, I have reason to believe it is a hoax. This shouldn't sway or influence the opinions of others however, and I suppose if he really is "almost done" we will see then. |

To everyone calling this a hoax - I remember hearing it as well, MANY times.. But I never once heard anyone provide hard proof as to why? And no one in this thread really has provided said details either.. Stolen Sprites? Donated Sprites? Nintendo letters? That's all just random crap to tie in the reasoning that it "could" be fake.
I don't personally care for this project mind you, but I've seen a lot of speculation on the internet in my days and I know how easy it is for a BS rumor to spread like wildfire as truth without a single shred of grounding to it. Besides, he claims he is almost done now, we should probably see soon eh? In short, don't always believe what you hear on the internet. (Same logic applies to the project itself too, safe to just give him the benefit of the doubt though.) Originally posted by Emptyeye I agree. A very BIG re-imaging, but essentially all the core aspects are there. |

They're wasting their time.
"Ocarina of Time 2-D" was released by Nintendo some 14 years ago in the United States. You may know it as "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past". Yes, I subscribe to the theory that OoT is just a remake (A re-imagining, if you will) of LttP. |

Only time will tell, eh? I played a different guys OOT2D demo off the site, and it can be done very well. It's really just a matter of whether you're up for it or not. Hoaxes = teh ghey |

I also remember it being revealed as a hoax - even hearing that he ripped off some of his graphics from other people. One of these, I heard, was an interior tileset for Kokori Forest that was shaped like a round tree - someone credible made it first, I even was there for the original "unvealing" of said graphic. I also heard that the creator of said graphic asked the alleged maker of OoT 2D to remove it. |

But it is, or at the very least was common knowledge. I'm sure theres ways of prooving its a hoax, including the ways they found out it was a hoax in the first place. Just because Nintendo wasn't involved in the demise dosn't give it any more credibility.. |

Well, unless someone can prove its all a hoax, stop posting as if its common knowledge. |

They didn't, though. |

Well, if anyone can post some kind of proof thats its a hoax, that would be great.
I fail to see why Nintendo would bother having this guy served a cease & decist notice if it was a hoax. |

No I remember that too, Kei =/ |

setz is right in that he made none of the sprites and tiles, they were all "donated" to him when the project was still believed to be in the works (a very talented spriter friend of mine provided the Ghoma, iirc, which is how I know about the whole...process, as to how he got the sprites in the first place ). I also remember this being discovered as an entire hoax long ago. I mean not just as a rumor, like, people actualy found him out on it at one point. Perhaps it was I who was misinformed then. hm. |

I was just visiting that forum, he's not the only one making OOT2D
Here's hoping a more devoted programmer makes the game quicker, because I dunno what to believe anymore! |

You betcha. He drew every screenshot, and has been lying to hundreds of people for over a year. His myspace talks about how he is a devote christian, which is brilliant. People go to that page and think "This guys loves God, he cant lie about something like this. Especially for this long." He paid for a server and a domain name, hand drew things from scratch. All of it, just to sit back and mock everyone who believes him.
I can't wait for this to be finished so I can play it. |

No he didn't Kario... That was an elaborate excuse, made because that one was fake... |
Kingpin Posts: 350/709 |
Yeah, the guy had an official site at oot2d.com or something like that, and he got a cease and desist from Nintendo. Everyone assumed the project was grounded after that. |

I'm so glad this is still going on, last time I heard it was shut down by nintendo. Here's hoping he finishes it |

It'll be Christmas for me when that project finally comes out.
Such a great game. It makes me happy that people still love it. Then again, who wouldn't? |
