i'm curious as to what error this person is getting when he is trying to run the game on a computer with DirectX 9

Obviously, whoever programmed the game that requires DX 6 didn't know that.

Perhaps there is a utility to spoof the DX version number? (I wouldn't know. I've used Linux as my primary OS for the last 6 years.)

uh...directX is backwards compatible. If you have 9, then it has all the features of 6.

I just figured this was the only place to post this question:

I just downloaded Direct X 9.0, one of my older PC games requires Direct X 6.0.
Is there any way to have BOTH versions of Direct X on my PC at the same time? Just wondering...
