High school is much better than middle school. Block schedules and more room for freedom. Have a good attitude about it and it won't be so bad.

well, high school gives you a chance to meet new people (and maybe allow you to forget those you want to forget)

I graduated Middle School a week ago. Yay, only four more years with these bastards and I go to colledge, and we merged so I get double the bastards...I hate the kids I go to school with...But, anyhoo, I graduated. Yay.

I'll be graduating this Saturday. I'm glad and not glad that I'm leaving, to tell ya'll the truth, my high school years weren't that bad but they could have been better, it's just I've been having some problems with other students. Also, I've enjoyed being in my school's band for four years.

Gee, where have I heard that one before. Technically, I was hung over for commencement, not drunk. But plenty of the people from our school (Mass Communications) were at Senior Week too, so that kind of explains how we were the smallest school in the college, and yet the loudest at commencement.

Make it go away! Such... horrible memories... *whimpers*

I agree with the point here.. I've played it for... 4 years. This year (I'm a Junior this year) will be the 5th.

Then I get to listen, and not play. Excellent.

That song... Is so horrible. Graduation is the super endurance test for one's chops. And I've been lazy this year, hell.

Congrats to all that graduate this year, I guess I'm next, eh?

Not just for high school. The even more impressive ones are the ones who get hysterical over leaving their friends over the SUMMER. Also, as sexist as this may be, all of the ones I saw were invariably girls. That's not to say that there weren't normal ones as well, but you tend not to remember the people who don't stand out. You invariably remember the ones who are out of the ordinary, the ones that you easily notice.

Dude; it's not being behind. You and me, we're "Super Seniors," better than those stupid only-four-year seniors. If we're really lucky, maybe we get to be "ULTRA Seniors" or something.

Most people I've talked to seem to be divided on high school graduation going into it, being either extremely excited and unable to wait for it, or being bored at just the idea of going and wanting to skip it. I found a nice middle ground, I guess. It was a nice little ceremony, but it got blown out of proportion by a group of people who hyperventilated at every quasi-emotional school event. You know the type; they don't understand that there is still life after high school. Every school has at least one.

To the graduating class: Go, and enjoy it, as it is probably your biggest accomplishment yet. Bask in the moment for now, but do know that there are bigger things ahead in life for you all than this one night.

I'm graduating in two weeks. On crutches. >8(

One of the girls in my graduating class had been in a wheelchair all her life. I forget what her problem is, but she was unable to walk, had poor control over her arms and face, and could barely talk. Alphabetically, she was towards the tail end of the graduating class, meaning she got her diploma late into the ceremony.

They had a "no applause until the end" rule when handing out the diplomas, and so far there had only been one real violation. Whe she got her diploma, the only thing on my mind was "Please, treat her like a human being, don't make an example out of her..."

The place fucking EXPLODED. Almost the entire crowd was up on their feet. I could not believe my fucking eyes; This girl had spent four years trying to fit in and be normal, and we go and fucking ruin it for her during the consumation of the biggest, hardest accomplishment she had ever achieved.

Anyways, since I haven't really made a point in this story yet: I hope this happens to you and you are horribly embarassed over it for years.

Pretty much the same thing here, except without the Civilization-playing afterwards. I can still remember not even wanting to go to my high school graduation at first I basically planned not to go at all, including not paying the mandatory ~$20 deposit for the gown / whatever it's called, as well as telling whoever asked that we already had plans for that night, and they couldn't be changed

In the end though, I did end up going, for what reason exactly I can't remember, but I'm glad I did. I ended up getting a $300 award of sorts for grade 12 music, which really didn't make sense anyways, seeing as I was the only grade 12 student in the class See, they merged the grade 11 and 12 music classes together, as there weren't enough students in between the two to effectively give them each their own schedule. I'm not complaining though, as that money's long gone. I used it to buy a Gamecube, among other things, but now I'm getting off-topic.

It's really strange to think that my brother's going to be graduating this year, and my sister either next year, or the year after it (both from high school).

Anyways, congratulations, I guess Any plans on what you're going to do now?

I walked for my AA last week, and some genius decided to have the ceremony during one of my finals. After 11 hours of taking tests, I went home and drank several glasses of wine to celebrate, but then I was like, "oh crap, the ceremony!". I then walked about a mile from my house to the ceremony. I barely made it and was the very last person to get on stage; I literally ran behind the last person of the very short line, slipped on my robe backstage, and walked up to receive my plaque, have my name called and get my picture taken, extremely drunk and disoriented.

I managed to take a bunch of finals, get insanely drunk, miss 95% of what was said to be a very boring ceremony, and I still walked... so glorious.

I graduated last weekend. Right now I have to look for a job for the coming year, since I'm not going to college until fall 2007.

Well, I was thinking: "Wow. I graduate TODAY so I think I'm-a make a thread celebrating".

Don't get me wrong, but Graduation days vary, right?

I think a very large handful of Acmlmers will be graduating this year. Perhaps this should be a general "OMG GRADUATION" thread.
This is a long thread. Click here to view it.
