I guess pigs do fly, because I quit whining.

Yeah, I realize I am whining, and I dont expect to get it changed over or anything. I'm just trying to explain why they are wrong, and why most people would see it and think it was wrong.

Edit: The way they are now is perfect.

Well, the reason that seems wrong, is because its a link. If links always said "the current state" then every link on the main page would say Acmlm's Board.

Okay, pretend the + is a down arrow and the - is a rightward arrow. Now it's still showing the current state, but it's in slightly different symbols. Would this mean that the rightward arrow should be when the category is open?

It's a matter of preference, in general. We're talking about one little character per category. It's not a big deal, you can easily look at the category and see "Hey, the category's expanded" or "Hey, the category's closed" on your own, so I don't think the symbol matters really.

Okay, pretend that you make sense. The + would be an up symbol not a down symbol, and the opposite applies to the - symbol. Your explanation only furthers my point.

And on it being a matter of preference, I agree with that. In this case, it seems the preference chosen was the wrong preference.

It's not wrong, it's how you think about it. And it's soooo not a big deal I can't believe it's been brought up so many times.

Depends how you view it. If you see it as what it currently is, it's fine. If you see it as the action to be taken, it's wrong.

I'm sure this will be debated for quite a while.

Arent they backwards? Shouldnt it be the [-] symbol when its open and the [+] symbol when its closed?
