No, max, I actually saw it in the topic, too. I don't see them anymore, though, so I guess there's no longer a problem. Maybe someone else with access to the board code changed something...or maybe I really was just seeing things. Either way, unless they come back, I guess the case is closed. Either that...or it's become an x-file...

that makes pinpointing (and obviously fixing) this problem so much easier.

It shows up when previewing a new thread but not in the actual thread.
So maybe you saw it in the preview and assumed (understandably) that it would show in the post too.

(oh, shit, triple posting...)

Okay, this is going to sound...strange and without merit, but all of a sudden, as I've gone to preview this message for a second time, the slashes are gone and the hotlinking is fine. Not two minutes ago I posted a topic in General Chat about Pat Morita's death and it had the slashes and hotlinking problems, and now this post is fine, both in preview and in practice. What's going on here...? Was I really imagining things? Or is this the speedy-quick handiwork of Mr. X?

I haven't made a single change to the board code lately, mostly due to (suprise!) uncooperative FTP and just not being at home.

So I have no idea what happened, why it was broken, or anything else.

Even with "HTML" and :Smilies off, it still isn't giving slashes...

Well, if you're getting those slashes with smilies off, ... well, that still makes no "sense" >_>

Strange, the slashes only appear in my posts...but the odd thing is, I have layouts disabled, so it couldn't be my layout. It's not my browser, either. The slashes only appear in my posts, I can see your apostrophes just fine.

Wait...am I going mad? Are there really slashes in my post or am I that far gone? No, it must be an error. Whenever I try hotlinking (with the a href tags) the site the link connects to is http://board.acmlm.org/%5C%22http://whateverwebsiteiposted.com/\%22 Note that the hotlinking tags use double primes. Also, I "disable smilies" on every post, but if that was causing the problem, then I shouldn't be the only one seeing the slashes.

...

Actually, I'm pretty sure there were slashes; just in things like PMs, previewing, andsuch.

But threads, replies, and (I think) polls are safe.

There are no slashes, and you misspelled sentence.

"Look" at this 'sentance.'
Those are double-primes and primes respectively. Why with the slashes? It's not just the specific layout I'm using, it's obviously something in the board code. I'm really curious as to what causes this. Any idea? What about you, Mr. X?
