Didn't stop a lot of groups from ripping GameCube games though. And there'll probably be solid GC emulation down the line, so... |

Wii will be pleasing to the next generation of gamers...
and I remember paying $70 for Beetle Adventure Racing and Mario Kart 64 back then. Finally, the Gamecube was hard to copy because of it's minidisc format, and the fact that it reads game data the reverse of many computer drives... I know because it froze my laptop trying to open a folder on the disc. |

Wii will change the future. Wii will challenge your dexterity more than any other system. Wii will be emotionally gratifying. Wii, put simply, will be.
It is the only one I plan on purchasing within the next 18 months (between the Wii, PS3 and Xbox360). I already chose the DS over PSP or more specifically the DS Lite so I mise (mise=might as well) stick with Nintendo. |

To answer the question:
"Which generation is going to win?" I think it is for sure going to be Nintendo. I mean the facts are everywhere. Nice controller, cheaper price, good games, connectivity to the DS, and free online play. No way Nintendo is going to lose. Its competion right is Microsoft. Sony's PS3 cost too much. A little more than half a thousand dollars ($600 to be specific) is toooo much for me. |

Originally posted by The Red Snifit Console wars have been going on, for quite sometime. I remember in Kindergarden I almost got into fights with others when we argued about the Genesis and SNES. Then it was the N64 and PSX, etc ... But yeah. We've reached a point where graphics don't always impress people like they used to. Now, people want innovation again. Blu-Ray, Xbox Live, the Wii and everything about it, it looks like consoles this time around will have more to offer compared to their competitions other than just being "another" console, like with the PS2, Xbox, and GC. If that makes sense? |

I have a feeling that the console wars will go on for a long time, and this generation is hard to tell who will win.
But, Nintendo will hold their title for best handhelds for a while. Nintendo will have a much better chance now. |

PS3 games might be more expensive. Which wouldn't surprise me... with a new media and all.
Just to prove the guy wrong who thought that Wii games was going to be expensive. :/ |

Reasonable price tag along with a new way to experience games. Impossible to top that for someone like me who's not looking forward to the same franchizes with the same gameplay and only superficial upgrades. (Really, considering what's been shown for the PS3 so far. It's nothing more visualy amazing then the latest PC titles like HL2 or Elder Scrolls Oblivion if you own a well equiped PC.) |

Your "sources"? The price range is $199-249 and won't be finalized until before launch, so maybe in a month or two.
The Wii doesn't have to go overboard with controllers but I like the Virtual Console controller. I'd probably pick that up for sure. |

$70 may seem outrageous, but truth of the matter is some SNES and N64 games hit that price back in the day. Being a cartridge was probably a large reason as to why, but yeah.
I'm not really in to the whole console war thing. Why? I'll end up getting them all eventually, because each system is going to have their ups and downs and exclusives, just like the Xbox, GC, and PS2. I already have my 360 and anticipate games like Prey, Gears of War, Halo 3 ... etc. Price wise though, yes I will probably find myself buying a Wii first because of how cheap it'll be. I just hope Nintendo doesn't get crazy with add-on's to the controller or whatever, kind of like what they did with the GC + GBA link idea. That, and I do think Nintendo could be making quite a comeback with the Wii here. I really believe they will, after the slight damage the N64 and GC may have done (although I don't really think that, but they've always been considered to be the lesser systems these days, if that makes sense? Can't really think of a way to explain what I'm trying to say here. ) Reading the previous posts in this thread though, getting Japan exclusives would be absolutely amazing. From Rondo of Blood, to maybe even Seiken Densetsu, that would be great for us gamers outside of Japan. So yeah, the whole classic gaming catelogue idea really has me excited for the Wii. That and Brawl. |

My sourses have told me that the wii will retail for 249.99 and will be released around the first week of november of this year, now the wii isnt nearly as powerfull as the xbBot360 or ps3 but nintendo has never been about the graphix its been about the games, the playability, the FUN they have won my vote |

I think the point is how much piracy goes on with those consoles. Even though there is some with the Gamecube, because pirating games on it relies more on external hardware, it's FAR less widespread. |

Gamecube actually uses mini-DVDs. It just uses a little-known feature to encode an encryption key on the disc, that few drives can read and only a very large expensive machine can write. |

Danielle: Like I said, the games WON'T be sold at $70. There's no reason to do that at all.
It's DVD format so if we're going by what other next-gen consoles are doing, $50 seems like a probable price/game. |

I just burned a copy of that new...never mind. Nintendo has always used proprietary media..wonder why they would take such a risk now, since they are ALL about anti-piracy. |
