Thanks everyone, this should help alot, sounds like there are few ways to do this. I couldn't find this advice anywhere else, maybe this should be linked to in the that thread with tools for newbies, it would have been useful to me starting, and it might encourage people to not just take graphics from other hacks. |

Also, to transfer pallettes easier, just open two instances of Lunar magic, one containing your new level with the new GFX the other containing any other level, in the second copy, import the savestate, then find which pallete the GFX you ripped uses, then copy (using ctrl+click) and paste between the two... rather simple, but quite helpful... |

i use m16-7k to rip backgrounds - and some objects
it's fast since you dont have to manually change colors in the palette (although you made need to rearrange it) and you dont need to piece together the 8x8 tiles into the 16x16 ones you need if you're new to ripping stuff though it takes awhile to get used to, and there are no really good tutorials on it out there as far as i know. maybe i'll make one sometime |

You guys have no need to get mad at Pac, he is simply requesting to be noted for his work. Hard or not, whether it's Nintendo's GFX or not, someone still has the trouble of ripping them. I agree with him too - he doesn't want people that don't even have a clue what they are, and use them in their own hack, when they have terrible level design - it just makes them look bad. _¬
On-topic: Believe it or not, the way I usually rip GFX is through BGMapper. I simply make a save state of the tileset I want, wherever that may be, then load it up in BGMapper and export it as a BMP. From there, I copy the tiles into a blank ExGFX file in YY-CHR, then load them up in Lunar Magic. Of course, you might have a bit of trouble with palettes (I did anyway ) so be careful. And most of all, good luck |

I only get 3bpp snes, not 4bpp. Theyre still a bunch of glitchy dots. |

If you have to continue flaming each other, there's a handy feature called Private Messages.
Let's try to bring this thread back on topic... whatever the topic is. |

Alright, can we all drop it now? It's gone way off-topic. _¬ |

Click options, then tick "use joined GFX files". Pressing the red Super Mushroom in Lunar Magic will cause a folder to appear in the same folder as your ROM, wherein you will find AllGFX.bin. Open that in TLP. |

Oh, and about the trolling of Pac, stop it. Elitism is NOT welcome here.
Sorry for being a mod, but Pac is a good friend of mine, and he doesn't need you all's crap. Thanks. |

Change the view mode from 2bpp to 4bpp snes.
Also, you can export a palette file in LM and load it in TLP. |

Why? cuz he said trojanised??
If your computer thinks YY-Chr is a trojan virus, there's nothin really you can do about it after that. Get to know how to use TLP instead. Use it to open the GFX that LM extracts. |

You come up with the best, words, Remoga. THE BEST. |

Now I want to get ExGFX inserting right but most tile editors are hard to understand. I cant use YY-chr cuz it will always be infected with a virus. An antivirus program keeps telling me that and it says thatI can heal it. If I heal it, the program will no longer be infected, right? WRONG!! Its still trojanised.
If I use another tile editor like Tile Ed pro, it will open safely for me. But I dont know how to use it. Like getting the tiles proper image and how to use them respectively. Im posting this cuz I want to edit Mario and Luigi GFX. Does anyone have a guide or help file that will help me out? |
