If you wanna know the other "detail bits", I've put some stitching on the shoes that gets eaten by the shading and stitching on the jeans also that gets eaten by the shading.

I don't wear any rings so there are none. I wear gold sleepers in my ears, and I wear a gold watch on my left wrist. Other than that there isn't that much more detail to add... I don't have any significant moles on my face to draw and the scar I have on my cheek is too faint to include in a picture... in fact it's now so faint I don't know if it's even noticable anymore.

As for the drawing, you do a very good job at varying the line thicknesses. If that is a low resolution picture I'd be really amazed at your high resolution pictures. All in all, it's top-notch quality work.

It would be interesting to see you make environments for your characters and putting in some special effects such as refractions and sunlight.

It's such a sad picture though... I don't know anyone who needs a hug more than you.

Yes, I have a deviantart account, but most of my stuff isn't this dark or expressive. I find it very, very hard to express myself (something that frustrates me to no end is that I'm mostly unable to use art as a tool for self-expression), this picture is an exception rather than a rule. Most of my stuff is cute, I'm sure you've seen it before

It's the little things.
Also, I still love the hair. I wish I could wear my hair like that and have it look good.

As for real life, bah. I know how it is for friends to "disappear" and... you've just gotta learn to not depend on them. Depend on something more... well, dependable. But most importantly, just try your best to be happy.

The coloring, like Kirb said, has the ability to suck me into that drawing. You're an incredible artist.

The colored version looks great! I love the shading. The hair and and the walls are the best part of the drawing. The nose is way to small, try to make it bigger.

I really like it, but it's also very sad because your potraying yourself in that picture i'm sorry about everything that's going, as I was reading in the officer's.

It's another great work of art. Though, like Boom.dk, the hands look a bit weird.... But... I'm probably not adjusted to seeing someone in that position.

Though, quite honestly, I can't enjoy that picture like... well, not much. When I looked at the bigger size of the colored picture, I felt like a great bit of energy was sucked right out of me (and for me to be all cheerful and genki, I need energy ). Though, I can feel that image being one of those things that one would look back and say "Damn! I can't believe I was there!"

I'm sorry about the "inspiration" for the drawing. It's never cool to be dealing with a long amount of distress. Depression is so icky. Gives you rings under your eyes and such. Er.. sorry. Silliness is my selfdefense against sadness

Anyway, I'm not a praying man (heck, I don't even have a religion that I follow), but I'll pray to whatever force out there to help you out. *nod nod*

Wow nice shading and coloring Tarale. Although it does suck your friends left you in the dust.

Wow... This is just... awesome. But your art always is. There might be a little thing. I think the hands look a little weird, but maybe that's just me.

It sucks that some of your friends just disappeared. I mean, friends ought to cheer up eachother when feeling down.

At least you can express yourself through drawing. I wish I could.

Anyway, I really hope that you'll start to feel better soon.

It's as close as possible as I can depict as to how my hair is. Real life it varies between being all sticky outey like that, to being limp and boring, to being all over the place. It's inconsistent. It IS actually that long right now too, but usually shorter.

But yeah, me and happy are not apparently compatible right now. It's not my fault, I'd like to be happy, I'm just having a shit time again. I suspected this year might have its hardships but that doesn't make them any easier when they rear their ugly head.

I am quite disappointed that when I'm feeling down some of my friends have mysteriously vanished on me too. Very helpful of them. I am convinced one of them is deliberately avoiding me because I am depressed, and while I understand his reasoning behind doing so if this is the case, I still think it sucks donkey's balls.

Coloring the picture and going to IKEA on the weekend should prove to be nice distractions.

Incidentally if anyone's wondering about coloring (desaturated greyblue aside) I was wearing a brown shirt and dark blue jeans when I drew this (and that's what I'm wearing in the picture), old brown Colorado shoes that are on their last legs (but live on forever in anime form!) and my hair is a crappy dark blonde/light brown. I might get streaks.

I intend to have those colors in the final to some extent, but it will mostly be washed out. I don't think I can pull it off, but I'd like to achieve a little bit of the kind of effect that Serial Experiments Lain concept art manages with regards to muted colors. I don't know if I can or not though. We'll see. Whatever happens, happens.

EDIT:

This happened;

It does look very nice... Good attention to detail, and everything. Kinda makes you feel sad looking at it, though... but that's probably a good thing. Means it's very vivid.

I like your art, even though this is depressing. It captures the mood perfectly. I don't see anything wrong with it, so it is a good piece of work... and I'm not the depressing type of person. Once shading is in place, it will look even better, I'm sure...

Hopefully the comments here could make you feel better.

I'm sorry, but which part of it is a chibi?

I'm pretty sure that it's more realistically proportioned than a chibi drawing is...
