The SNES generation owned and still does to this day. NES and today's gen (not the next gen that's starting now, end year, and next) are probably in a tie for second, in my opinion.

I was still into my SNES and NES until 1999 rolled around. Once my Playstation took over, I was into the newer gen a bit more. Still, I'm a retrogamer more than I am a this-gen gamer and I usually go after games that aren't overhyped by everyone that people tend to overlook. Example? Magical Drop III. Addictive game that no one ever plays.

I'm going on, but there's a lot of games in previous gen consoles that are even better than some of the stuff I see on shelves nowadays...

I gotta go with fourth and sixth. I loved my SNES and Genesis, those games were simple and increadibly fun to play. I still find myself playing Sonic I and II, SMW and SFII:turbo. Apart from those systems the only other games I play are on my GameCube. Every single Resident Evil game on the system is amazing but that's because the Resident Evil series is my favorite of all time. Then there's SSBM, a very stereotypical GCN game but hell, it's awesome to play with four players.

Er, missed that, but you missed something else.

Try four of us, then, if you're so confident. The assumed top 4 from the tournament (it never finished): Surlent, myself, Xkeeper, and Hiryuu. I think you'll find us worthy opposition, if you're able to arrange games. By which I of course mean either Xk or Hiryuu will kick your ass, Surlent will be a graceful loser, and I'll be complaining about how close I came to winning when in reality I was losing the whole time.

I really cant wait for the Wii, I already have a 360, and I was totally for the PS3, but, when I can get 2 systems for the price of that one could be, and their both great. So im sticking to the 7th generation...im not to old school

Some time during the mid 90s I got my first PC and experienced the advent of deathmatches, LAN play, realtime strategy, modding, etc. I don't think I've ever had as much fun with gaming as I had during that period.
Other than that, I was all for the Mega Drive and its emphasis on arcade action. The JRPG-ridden SNES didn't appeal to me that much.

I really like the SNES era because of great games for the system like:-
Earthbound
Chrono Trigger
SMW
Blackthorne
F-Zero

I rerally liked the Game Boy Color, too because of Pokémon Crystal which has to be the greatest handheld game ever

Dreamcast is normally put into the 6th generation, partially because Sega advertised it as "128-bit!" (along with Sony with the PS2; neither statement is true)

Sorry for leaving Dreamcast out of the list, I quickly realised I forgot it, but the poll edit feature is broken.

It was released first (by a decent margin), and it vanished not too long after the Xbox and Gamecube came out. I think that qualifies.

Of course, lumping it in one would be 6th, so... yeah.

And I'm an idiot for neglecting that gen 1 is Pong. Oops. That should've been 5th and 6th...

In my mind, it will always be the winner of the 6th generation... And every other generation.

between 4th and 5th wtf

Alastor: Dreamcast is somewhere in between 4th and 5th, if I remember right. It didn't last too long in the current gen, so... yeah. It would be just a tad hard to place.

Of course, the fact that you had a generation dedicated exclusively to Pong says something, too...

It's too hard for me to choose. Anything from the 3rd on has had something for me...

I'd have to say 3rd and 4th generations, since I love my old 8-bit games and my 16-bit ones aren't that shabby. I wouldn't consider handhelds to be included in the generations since those are reserved for consoles, but I voted 6th mainly for GBA.

4th.

Genesis and SNES were my game systems. Sonic for the fun of running through levels and then the Debug mode when I found out about it. SNES had many games that I played CONSTANTLY. Tetris Attack? I was immortal.

4th Generation FTW!

Genesis was my favorite console ever, still is. SNES wasn't far behind ;o

But seriously, Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles had me completely hooked

4th generation

I have memories of playing that system a lot as a child. I did own a Genesis but I didn't play it as much as my SNES. I only owned 3 games back then and they were all Mario games. They were SMW, SMAS, and SMK. My parents rarely bought games at that time because they were a little more expensive back then.

Didn't start playing other SNES games until I found out about ROMs.

3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.

More so the first three. The NES and the Gameboy was the win, I had the Sega Genesis which rocked at times, and there was the Nintendo 64 and the PlayStation which were awesome.

I'll pick the 5th, because the Nintendo 64 was the last Nintendo system I loved and made me want to play it (Not counting the Wii)

Plus, Diddy Kong Racing and Mario 64 really kept me going for months at a time.

Edit: Actually, this poll made me realize that I have been playing games for awhile. Started with the 2nd Generation (Intellivision + Pitfall! = Fun Fun Fun) I feel old now.

3rd and 4th.

I started playing the good ol' NES system, then played the hell out of SNES. Mario, Donkey Kong, Final Fight... it was all good.

4th, 6th, and 7th here. The 4th mostly for the SNES (even though the only time we ever get a chance to use a real one is at our aunt's house), the 6th for the GBA, and the 7th for anything except the Xbox 360 and PS3 As much as I'd like to be able to choose a favorite from those though, I'm having a hard time doing so, as there's no one system that stands out in any way

Simply put, I like them all, but there are none that I prefer over the others at present.

I was going to include the Gamecube in the first paragraph, but I hardly play games on the thing anymore. The only game that I may end up putting in it before getting a new game, or possibly even a Wii is Tales of Symphonia, mostly because I remember how great I used to think that game was, and it's been a while since I touched it

For the sake of the poll though, I think I'm going to choose the 7th generation. That's pretty much only because just so long as you have a PSP with anything less than firmware 2.7, you can play nearly any game from the older generations you want

This is off-topic, but if anyone's using Internet Explorer to view this thread, I hope my layout isn't stretching things horribly. I know last time I used this one it did, but I think I've fixed things so it shows properly in that browser for now

Edit: expect and except are way too similar.
