My dad's in construction, but he dosn't do any of the manual labor. He's a vice president (though its really just a title) and a project manager, meaning he makes sure everyone else builds the stuff properly and that everything is up to code etc. His company builds schools (really, really nice ones which I've yet to have the fortune of attending due to them all being in other towns  ) He makes pretty decent money in his job. We aren't rich by any means, but we certainly do quite well, and he earns every cent of it--by that I mean he really works his ass off. Despite him not being a laborer, he's actualy really handy with that sort of stuff and is great at fixing and building things around the house. Construction's a hard job no matter what part you get in to it, but if its something you enjoy it really does pay off. |

I don't think I'd do well with construction. Definitely not a real work-with-your-hands kind of guy.
And I personally prefer not to worry about the construction workers... They've got their job, they do it, I don't bother them, and they don't bother me. Seems fair. |

Yep, I'm real familiar with construction! It ain't for no sissy people either... We had this one guy on our job, and he kept hiding behind corners and stuff... I was like "What the hell are you doin'? "You need to be freakin workin you stupid son of a bitch"... but the moron kept sitting in areas we couldn't find him, and so he got his ass fired... HA HA HA!!! I love it! |

I'm in pretty good shape for this type of work luckily... They'll work you hard at times 
It's a good way to stay in shape, but being layed off at the moment has caused me to gain a little weight... but soon I'll be working for a different company... a company that treats you better...  |

Well, there's a bunch of construction workes around where I live. They're building around here (expanding the place), but that's probably the closest to construction I get.  |

I don't have the stamina for construction. Plus around here, most of the construction companies are Italian, which raises some red flags. XD (There's been rumors.)
I have no problem with those who get their hands dirty doing it, though... someone needs to and it's good money. |

Nope. I'm a programmer. I have very basic knowledge of construction, but it really isn't much. Luckily one of my good friends has done quite a lot of this sort of work with his dad, so he's helping us redo a wall in our living room. What we have now is shoddy homemade shelving and a really craptacular entertainment center installed by the previous owner over an ugly plain plywood backing. The nonstructural 2x4's behind the plywood could stand to be improved, too. We're in the process of tearing out the entire thing and putting up better 2x4's, a luan plywood layer, and knotty pine planks, and then we'll install nice plain pine shelves on wooden brackets. Too bad we have an ugly '60s red brick fireplace, but we'll work on that later. |

I've done everything from dry walling to cleaning out storage units [basically a farm of big garages rich people store their shit in] to graciously tearing down a house with nothing but a hammer. I don't mind the work, or the people, because when you're not getting taxed and bringingin $500 that's the only reason you'er working there.
But the best part about drywall is you get to tear down the old wall first  |

Nope, no construction for me.  I rather enjoy my current job, and while I certainly don't get $420 a week, I don't really need that much. I've got another year of high school left. |

I was in landscapeing work forawhile $8.00 an hour, Wasent tobad for the things I had to do but the work does start to become a pain after awhile indeed. |

It brings the bread in... but I hate it with a passion You've always got some 50 yr. old redneck racist to the moon yelling at you every 3 seconds... you get short breaks and a 30min. lunch as opposedd to most jobs having 60 min. lunches... *sigh*  -----....
But on a positive note... I get great benefits, and a 420$ dollar check every week, and if you stay in it, you can keep making more and more money... ...oh I'm sorry! I didn't specify what I did exactly.... We do tile work, and I actually like the work itself, but not the people... I always thought maybe someday I can run my own buisness... .... but I need to get an apprenticeship first... |
