You should always read the book before seeing the movie, although very few people actually do that. The movie script is generally a condensed form of the book, so as to keep it within an appropriate time-frame.

I read the Da Vinci Code before I read Angels & Demons, but it was ok,
since Dan Brown's works do not cross-reference each other too much.

But the worst you could do is read Harry Potter 4 before any of the other books in the series, which, incidentially, I did, and it left me pretty confused.

Just got Da Vinci Code, which I fully plan on reading before seeing the movie.

Angels and Demons I'll read after, because it will make me read Da Vinci Code afterwards again, to make me understand it better!

Saw it on Friday. I was screwed up the entire time, because I read Angels and Demons last (albeit a good year or so ago), and I was expecting stuff from that to happen cause I got the books mixed up.

I still liked it though. It wasn't a great movie, it was just entertaning things, like the book.

I went to go see it last night after work at 11... I wouldn't say it sucked ass like the reviews said (2/5 &0/5). The movies is at least decent. It follows the book as far as what direction it goes and the meaning. However, if you read the book (as alot of people have), you notice that they do quite a few things differently. They took stuff out in what I can only guess is an attempt to speed up the movie and shorten it. Things that in the book you tend to like. Explinations, riddles, etc... They also added things, though, to make it more appealing to those that have not read the book.

I would give it at least 3/5... It is a decent movie, but only about half the movie it could have been.

Speaking of, you know what would make the story better?

Solid Snake.

Edit: And the albino should pilot a metal gear.

According to the box, it also has stealth and action parts.

Which makes me laugh.

Yeah, I saw two reviews. One was 2/5 and the other was 0/5.

I saw an ad for the game, and from what I could see, it was just a puzzle game. I might at least rent it to see if the puzzles are decent.

You know, when I'm logged out and view your posts, I always ****ing confuse them with Ziff's. You need to... stop doing that to me or something.

Eh, its fiction. How people try to make it seem like a stab at religion makes it... controversal? The book should have been questioned more.

And the fact there is a game... no... just a marketing ploy.

I'll read the book before touching the movie and game. Even then, the book doesn't catch my interest, so...

I don't know why, but I've never gotten around to reading the book. I mean, actually reading it. I was supposed to read it last year for my AP Euro class, but I skimmed instead because I was pulling my hair out over my math and Euro finals. While I know the basic plot, I'd like to read it the right way before seeing the movie. I probably will this summer. Someone remind me.

And it's not the free-masons.. it's the illuminati. And the book is fiction. It's just controversial because in this case there may have been some fine lines drawn between fiction and truth. Just things about Jesus being married to Mary Magdaline and them having children and such... I think that's the main thing that freaks people out. Because you don't know.. it doesn't say anything in the bible about it or anything really. When people don't know what's fictional and whats real.. they tend to get a little nutty.

And it has nothing to do with anti-semitism. His paintings supposedly carried symbols of mary magdaline in them. She's seated at jesus's left in the picture (supposedly) of the last supper. Then it's just supposed to be that Leonardo DaVinci painted scenes that glorified the sacred feminine.. and payed homage to a kind of female worship.. which embodies itself in mary magdaline.

It's alot to explain.. there's just so many things to talk about when it comes to the DaVinci code. Seriously.. an amazing book. Go and read it now.

Antisemitism? I thought it was about the blood line of Jesus.

I took the opportunity a few days ago to examine these paintings in detail, and found out that there is absolutely nothing in the paintings to suggest anti-semitism. By all means, he may or may not have been a Freemason, but that doesn't mean he made paintings about it.

Anyhow, back on topic. This movie seems very provoked and just a way to make money. I probably will end up watching it, but when it comes to things like this, I don't get moved very easily so it will take alot of convicing for me to believe that bullshit.

Considering it's been said again and again that it's fiction why do you need to believe it?

There's a game ? Eww...

From the book.... I really don't get... why.... other than as a movie tie-in. To which I repeat: eww.

I plan on seeing this as soon as I finish the book. Will probably watch the movie just to see how closely it follows the book.

I think the real question here is, are you going to play the Da Vinci Code game coming out this month?
