Wait. If I'm reading the custom title right, you're fucking talking to yourself. How am I not suprised?

Let me give you some advice...

Alastor, Stifu, and Glyph Phoenix... are hard to please..

asdf and bio... are more kind about it, and will tell you how to do something if you are having trouble... ....oh and me too

...oh don't worry! I'm going to do what ghost said

im gonna make more non-slippery areas than regular slippery areas

In a way, "creepy" could be good. It's definitely a unique way of changing the atmosphere of the game without changing the style too much... Mario kinda prides itself on faces that shouldn't exist.

Now that is actually smart, girl! You've got to keep it a variety...

i will try to mix it up by making ice themed levels, but like an ice forest to an icy sky level... maybe an icy desert too! stuff like that! not just the plain ol ice type and that's it but to make a lot of kinds of ice levels...

Ice theme would be one to try, but I sorta agree with Stifu...a whole entire hack, with around, oh, 90 levels, based on the same theme will get repetitive.

I mean, it's up to you. If you think you can make it fun for the whole run through it, then hats off to you, and good luck

Making a whole Mario game around such specific themes sounds rather bad and boring to me... However, if you only made one world be "ice" or "happy", that'd sound better to me...

Just "can" the cute bunny rabbit thing... It's a stupid idea... no offense, but the ice theme might work, but with few crazy slippery areas, make it very few...

An ice theme will appeal to the eye, so it could be really really good, but make sure you release demos and we will tell you how it looks and stuff... and how it plays...

I recommend playing other hacks in the database like: Anikiti's, BMF's, FuSoYa's, and Peter_ac's work, and then you might get the idea on how it's played.

I suggest making Ice Theme ExGFX if you know any.

While I agree with Glyph Phoenix that the original SMW gave ice-themed levels the shaft, making an entire hack with nothing but ice levels might be going a little too far... especially considering the fact that ice-themed levels derive difficulty by reducing the player's control over Mario and throwing off their coordination. If the entire hack is icy, players will get very used to the icy physics by the end of the game. (This might be solved by having a mostly icy theme with occasional patches of normal ground, as Ghost recommends.)

The happy bunny cutesy theme might work, but would require one heck of a story in order to be really appealing.

Of course, you could always try to make an icy cutesy hack. Perhaps the story could be "Oh no, Bowser has blocked out the sun and caused Super Cutesy Land (or whatever it is) to freeze over!"

You can get it at SMW Central found in the sticky... There's a lot of cool stuff there...

by the way I love your avatar...

Maybe you could make an ice hack to where some parts are not slippery, by using blocktool... you can create a block that acts just like a slippery block, and design it to look like the slippery ground, and make a ground tile that acts "non-slippery" that right there could be an answer to a lot of the slippery-haters concern...

SMW's physics are slippery enough without ice making everything worse.

You went too far with that first comment and without sufficient explanation. Let me say that, but infinitely better.

Ice worlds have a legacy of awesome. I really liked SMB3's ice world like where you had the munchers or the fortress or, well, lots of stuff. I also liked the ice worlds from SM64. In addition, Ice worlds are a bit underrepresented in SMW compared to the other common worlds. At least, I think they were at one point. I don't keep up with the times. That fact would have much to do with most hacks today being awful.

Kyouji's right about the ice physics. Mario's physics is one of the big things that makes me dislike SMW, along with the lack of good enemies and the horrible saving/revisit/powerup/1up inbalance. If you do make an ice world, stay away from that 'slippery' switch. It's just not cool.

The physics engine should seem simple enough to tweak. I think I'll get right on making that not suck with a nifty patch. That is, assuming my extreme unreliability doesn't get it in the way. It usually does, you know.

Back on topic, doing something new tends to be much better than a reused idea like Ice unless this new idea is something utterly terrible like a bloody level or an intentionally glitched level. (Both of those unfortunately are no longer new.)

I suggest you try making something unique but with the same Mario-esque graphics. Try to make a whole new concept in your hack not just a story but ways of completing the levels and utilizing different elements to make something strange.
