I'm using a samsung monitor that has inbuilt TV and scart, 3 RGBs and also does VGA at 1600 x 1200. It's £100 in england which isn't too bad.

Picture quality. Generally cheaper things use cheaper components, which can mean more signal loss, which means you lose some of the high-def sheen.

However, it rocks to see in such high quality, Ganondorf's chin looks pixellated.

You can get a cable for the Gamecube for component video out, and with some hacking it can be made into an RGB out. You need a monitor that supports it, though. I think games will still display on it in normal resolution if they don't support it. PS2 I'm sure has the same feature but I don't know how you'd use it, since I just use an ordinary TV.

With the Kworld XPert TV, what exactly do you mean "it may not be as nice as possible." Is that about it actually doing it's function of connecting a GCN or PS2 to display it on the monitor, or that the picture quality isn't as good as the others.

See the following:

ClearVideo 3 (Component Video to Monitor, used on early model GCNs, don't know about Xboxes. Costs a ton.

Kworld XPert TV Thingamabob (Cheap, uses regular inputs, but may not be as nice as possible

Viewsonic Viewbox VB50HRTV: The best in non-Component converters I've used.

There's plenty more if you look hard enough.

What you are looking for is a TV-to-VGA or Video-to-VGA converter. They run between $50 (on ebay) to $100+ depending on the store you go to.

Alternatively, you can get a TV capture card; but it requires your computer to run. But my guess is you just want to use your monitor as a TV without having your computer on.

Hey, is there anything out there that can turn a computer monitor into a useable screen for a GCN or PS2. I don't really feel like buying a TV right now and was wondering if there were any cables or connectors that could be plugged into my monitor or into a graphics card in a computer. Thanks for the help, and I have a nVidia GeForce 6600 if that matters.
