Ok, finally finished this beast. Just wanted to echo the compliments of everyone else on what a great job you've done. SM is easily my favorite game, and this is worthy redesign of the classic. Sorry about the gripes with shinesparking. Turned out to work fine if I reassigned "down" to the keyboard or one of the C-sticks. Still pretty weird since down worked fine for everything else. Thanks for all your efforts!

Put the IPS file and the ROM in the same folder with LunarIPS. Run it. Patch ROM. Select the IPS patch. Select your Super Metroid Rom. Enjoy.

Optional : Crack open Dr Pepper for added flavor.

there is no change whatsoever in my hacks shinespark mechanism other than sparks can be held upon hitting a slope. if you can do it in the original (I would check NOW if i were you, before giving up) then you can do it in my hack. try assigning your buttons to different keys on a keyboard as you may only be able to press so many at one time

Thanks for the advice on spinesparking. Unfortunately I think there is a true glitch/bug on my setup since it doesn't seem to work at all and I've tried for over two hours, slightly altering timing of crouching, etc, everything I can think of. Should be really simple to do (on original SM I could do pretty advanced shinespark stuff). Can't get a charge no matter what I try. This hack is so great i might just start over with a hacked JU ROM to see if that works. Too bad since I'm already at least 5 or 6 hours in, and didn't notice any problems/glitches so far except the music had a constant static sound in the background.

EDIT: Nevermind, wrong topic.

just speedboost, crouch, then press jump when you are where you want to go up.

or just run crouch and horizontal spark by pressing and holding jump and then press left left/ right

Great work on this hack. I just got the speed booster but cannot manage the shinespark. I was very good at this in the original SM. I'm using the snes9x with a non-JU hacked ROM. Is this possibly a bug or is there some new way to do shinespark? Haven't seen anyone else bring this up. Thanks for any help.

I updated the rom one final time, I swear! Version 2.1

Fixes a few MAJOR unknown bugs when loading from a save station and having samus' icon not line up properly with the grid.

also fixed a few graphical glitches in a few rooms when making door transitions.

It was supposed to have, but ZSNES 1.50 or whatever didn't work. And I don't like it anyways, It's blurry. I prefer the snes9x all the way.

Yea, that was the problem. I tried using snes9x last night, and bingo was his name-o. I thought that the problem with zsnes was figured out though...

That would be because the ZSNES is, for whatever reason, incompatible with the FREAKING AWESOME that is SM:R. I dunno if anyone knows why.

I played on Snes9x. I forget which model.

Could someone pretty please give me a hand?

I found a Super Metroid (JU) [!] rom, and I have Redesign 2.0. What version of zsnes should I be able to use? Ive applied both the header ips and the headerless ips to different 2 copies of the Super metroid rom, but I cant seem to get either to work. Ive tried zsnes 1.35, 1.36, and 1.51. No combination of any seems to work.

Could someone attempt to shed some light on this problem? This sounds like a really great hack, and I would much enjoy playing it.

If possible, could someone also explain to me what "header" and "headerless" both mean and what they do for the rom? Im a bit curious as to their meanings.

I didn't realise there was a section for completed hacks. I was wondering where my topic dissapeared to for the last week

FreeDOS I promise thee mine first born. This huge thread should have been moved here long ago. Nothing against the thread, I was just tired of seeing what is basically a hack gameplay thread in the rom hacking section.

It's OK. I already figured it out. I had to gain access through the Lost Cavern. Dx

Now, I assume I explore Maridia. Unfortunately, I took the wrong elevator and got hit with a Super Missle gate from the wrong side. D:
Is there another route?

Got Wave Beam. I'm in a room in Crateria with those fish monsters right before the room with the Gravity Suit (I had to look at a map...). I can get to the final ledge before the ledge where you power-bomb the blocks. I can't get up there. Please help! D:

I have everything except Space Jump, Spazer, Plasma, Screw Attack and Gravity Suit.

This is a long thread. Click here to view it.
