Actually, looking at that... What's with the 128 unused data in the users table?
And just because it'd be quite a typo wouldn't mean it wouldn't happen. Of course, it could always wind up being a Freudian slip of some kind... |

And then we'd have god knows how many of them reregging saying "I HAD AN ACCOUNT HERE ZOMG WHERE DID IT GO"
Just, no. |

And then you wind up with a > instead of the =, and THE WHOLE BOARD DIES. We're DOOMED. DOOMED, I tells ya.
Or not. Just let the non-posters stay, unless it seriously takes up THAT much space... And I don't think any of us non-admins can seriously say for that one. |

You have to log in to see all the pretty themes, send PMs and use the Mark Forum Read function. Also a lot of people proably just register as soon as they find a board, thinking they won't be able to do much if they don't.

Well, for the "fresh" ones, that's okay... they need time to lurk. But for the crusty ones, that sit all hot and decayed... ...that's not okay, they are wasting our time and their time... |

Everyday I see the new registered user for the day, and I never see them post a single thing... |

I delete nonposters on the Protoboard on a regular basis. |

Originally posted by Ghost For the most part, I don't think deleting people really matters, it just replaces their posts with "post by deleted member" or whatnot. besides. if perma-banned people still log in, we can mess with their settings [NINJA AE THEME YAY ] and all that fun stuff. I think my bannination came from Tomguy. I could be wrong though. |

The problem with deleting accounts that haven't posted in a few months, is that a legitimate poster might go on holiday or something and come back to find their account gone. If we did implement that system, we'd need a thread were we can say we aren't going to be around for a few months or whatever. |

I barely remember Jesper...
All the old admins... Tomguy, Erkdog, Jizuko, and of course... Milly. I cannot remember who banned me the first time I joined... maybe it was Colin? (no grudges) |
Thoughtless Posts: 1561/2405 |
That reminds me of way back when Jesper wanted to delete some users but by accident he used the wrong symbol and somehow alot of the active uers were deleted thus forcing Milly to use a month old (or so) backup to restore the place.
I really can't remember the exact details but you get the drift. That sure was a fun time. Very fun time. |

It would take a butt-load of work to delete all those names... unless they could do it all at once, but I don't know...
I wonder why they also do not delete the perma-banned members... |

Why is it a problem? I was under the impression the total data for many users doesn't even take up a kilobyte |
Cruel Justice Posts: 1050/1637 |
I don't think there's really a problem of inavtive users. So what if they don't come back, take a look at alot of other forums that have around 13k people. I mean, if you really think this is bad... heh.
Yeah, occasionally I'll eat some people, spit out their bones, then gingerly wrap their skin back on their skeletons and leave them "inactive" for awhile. Ha ha... um. I've said too much... You all die now! |

In the OLD days, we (and by we, I mean Milly) would purge dormant accounts every few months or so when we (er, he) felt the urge.
Usually if the person had logged in regularly but hadn't posted, it was all right. No posts + no logging in... :\ |
Danielle Posts: 3542/6737 |
They aren't years old, this board has only been here since November 05.
Who cares if they don't post, they might browse logged in because it's much nicer that way. But even if they don't log in, who cares? |

...How was I being insulting? I didn't mean it that way...
(And yes, I was being sarcastic in response to BSD-Addict's post.) |
