Yeah, but it actually sounds pretty much the same. (well, I think so, that's how I pronounce it).
And seriously, I've said it before, anyone that laughs because of the name needs to be shot, burned, revived, cut in half. |

it's crazy cause in my language wii mean YES
that's why i prefer the revolution name.Wii too childish and if you just play crazy game like devil may cry 3 into a so WEIRD NAMED CONSOLE it would just never fit. |

Then you should find some more mature friends.
Wii isn't that bad, it's supposed to be like "we." Even the nintendo site said that. |

I do not know if I posted before... but I stand by my initial decision.
No matter how many arguments you throw at me, "Wii" sucks. Just face it. Without the explanation behind it, "Wii" stands as worst name ever for a console. "Revolution" may not have the same meaning behind it but at least, you can pronounce it without laughing. Yes, my post is harsh but facts are facts. When you need to explain a console's name to stop people from laughing, you have a problem. Have a nice day people. |

Why? Two same vowels together kinda assume a "long vowel" sound, in which case ii = as in we, or the Japanese vowel i (い. Though, I guess knowing short/long vowels requires over-average English education (I think.). It is taught in primary/elementary schools but how many people do you know actually bother to retain that kind of usually looked at as useless knowledge. |

I found this neat little picture that may give you cause to wonder at just how terrible a "childish" console is. Grey that is a awesome picture. Heh I bet half the people will not prenounce it "we" I think they will prenounce it "whyy". I like the name it's different, its unique, and it does not keep the begining of the older system. |

I said the name was childish, not the look of the console. I don't have any gripes about the look of the console or the revolutionary way Nintendo is going to attract those who have found video games hard to play. |

...And the Japanese are spineless people that are too weak to lift up an X-Box or drive an SUV with 400 wheels.
Dude, lame sentiment. The American public is just as stupid as any other public. Canada, Morocco, Korea, you name it. The Wii is going to stop it from selling or negatively impact it at all. |

I like the name wii...but because it is so childish sounding, I don't think it is going to attract the people Nintendo wants to attract. Americans are all for power, mighty things and stuff like that. wii just doesn't provide that image
on a side note, I've abandoned most american entertainment (except movies) a long time ago... |

Typical anti-american sentiment... I thought you were better than that
None of my IRL friends hate the name Wii, so there you go. |
neotransotaku Posts: 1250/1860 |
revolution sounds better but wii has that thing that may make you go WTF? I think nintendo should stick with revolution for the U.S. because Americans are quite close-minded from a marketing standpoint... |

Yeah... I don't care at this point. Wii or Revolution, it's the same system, and wii isn't as bad as I originally made it out to be.
I'm indifferent anymore, I just want the system. |

I used to hate the name, but now it's kinda grown on me, to the point that I'd probably be disappointed if Nintendo changes the name back to Revolution.
Because no matter what it's called, Wii will own PS3._¬ |

Yeah, I'm willing to bed that, had this thread been made now, it would be largely in favor of Wii. Everybody's warmed up to it now. |
Alastor Posts: 5708/8204 |
That's because the majority of the votes were just after the wii name was announced and everyone thought it was stupid, and multivoting was disabled. |
