Hey, thanks for sending me the link to the ROM.

I applied the IPS patch to it, and it worked just fine! Now I can finally play it.

Thank you so much!

I can't help but feel I'm just making things more difficult with this, but here's a way to do things manually. First of all, open your Super Mario World ROM in whatever hex editor you use. I'm using Translhextion right now, so things might look a bit different for you. Right at the top, you should see something that looks like what's highlighted in yellow in this picture. Your ROM needs to have that at the top. If you need to add that, make sure you're not overwriting what's already there

Note that the ROM I had open in that picture was completely unmodified, and the filename was "Super Mario World (U) [!].smc". It already had a header, as you can see, and the patch worked perfectly I'll PM you a link to that ROM in case the above doesn't even get the patch to work for you. Hopefully it does though.

It's been a while since I did anything even remotely related to romhacking, so my memory's a bit rusty

I think I did something wrong... I did download the program you suggested I use. I put the clean ROM in the same folder so the program would find it. I then went to Add Header, and it then asked me to pick the ROM. I selected the ROM, and it then asked me if I wanted to delete the Header. I said YES, and the next question about Hirom file (?) which I also said YES to (I have no idea what that does) and then I answered YES to Disable Static Ram (?!) (Once again, I have no idea what that does). It then says that the header has been added, and I then ESC'd out.

However, after applying the IPS patch to the edited ROM, nothing happens. Just a blank screen.

Sigh >.>;

Anyways, as for the hack, the screenshots look pretty nice, although they make me wonder whether this game is going to be another one that could fall into the "hard to very hard" category Time to download it and give it a try

You have to make sure your ROM has a 0x200 header. You can add those bytes using a hex editor.

How does one do that? ;

I've never hex edited anything before

I've tried to expand the ROM, but Lunar Expand says that I cannot do so.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can correct this problem?

Thanks!

I always thought I was decent at level design, but when I plaued his hack, I knew I had to do better; he doesn't just scatter enemies abroad, he's actually got it set up for difficulty, and I set up objects real good in my design, but Anikiti's inspired me to put a little more effort into my hack, so I'll be rolling on that now.

the level design of this hack is great in my opinion. it's the first hack of anikiti wich didn't required about 1000 savestates in one level, just 100

I just downloaded it, but haven't played it yet. If it's 1/2 as good as Panic in the Mushroom Kingdom, I'll enjoy it. When is the fianl version of PITMK2 coming out and what are the 2 games mentioned earlier (SSM's future SMW hack Mario and Luigi's Grand Adventure)?

Just keep going...I started finding capes in world 3.

That reminds me, the difficulty is extreme in Antiki's hack. Can't even beat the levels fairly. But it's good enough for me.

And what does that have to do with anything, insectduel?

Anyway, yeah I played this hack a few months ago. The GFX are impressive and all, but the gameplay is horrible.

There's no way that Antiki can compete with SSM's future SMW hack Mario and Luigi's Grand Adventure. Honestly I don't know when he going to lend it to me for hosting but the levels are still under construction. Besides, he has other things to do rather than ROM hacking.

I like Anikiti's work, its just he never switches the GFX he uses, I've played about four of his hacks now, and they all use the same sets of ExGFX, otherwise I think he has okay level design, he just needs to rip a few more sets of original ExGFX, then his hacks would be even better.

Looks really cool. Anikiti is really awesome with this stuff. However some of his hacks extremely hard for me. It's like I try not to use savestates, but I have to with his hacks. Still cool though, and I look forward to this one!!

Wow, I must download this hack. I want to fight that Hammer Brother in the Clown Car if he has made it that far in his hack.

Anikiti's hack are pretty cool and challenging at the same time. It's one of the few hacks I use a lot of savestates on.
