It's GORO'S first film, yes. Hayao, on the other hand... Well, I'm sure you must've seen his stuff before. If not, then google him.

I thin SciFi did recently make a live-action mini-sieries, yes. Maybe that's why Ghibli decided to make their own take on the story.

Also, earthsea. Didn't they recently make a miniseries for the stories on Scifi starring one of the hobbits from LoTR? Meh, who cares! This trailer looks to be up there between "shiznit" and "milf" on a scale of 1-10.

Yes, I was aware that it wasn't Hayao.

You guys DO know it's Goro Miyazaki, Hiyao's son, right? His dad was really pissed off that Goro wanted to take on this project.

Miyazaki's films are always wonderful hope to see this, but I"ll probably wait until it's out on DVD.
I'm not familiar with the Earth-Sea stories, but this movie still looks great.

Is it actually based on the Earthsea universe!?

If it is, HOLY SHIT. LeGuin isn't my favourite author, but I LOVE her views.

Edit:: shit it is! Although it is a descendant of the venerable Miyazaki-san.
