Thanks both for your help DB and Xen but I finally solved the problem by finding a ROM with the headers intact.
Thanks a lot though! |

No, they don't need anything, which is why people started removing them. I use uCon64 with the GUI frontend for all my format changing needs, but that might be a little too much for just adding a header. |

I know SNESTool does it, but then, I'm sure there are better utilities to do it as well. Of course, you could just manually add the 0x200 Bytes manually to the start of the ROM yourself (SNES games don't need anything in the header, do they?) |

At the risk of sounding really dumb, how do I give my ROM headers? |

Give your ROMs headers, then write nasty e-mails to the sites you obtained them from, telling them that if they're going to host headerless ROMs to change the extensions to .sfc or .bin. They're not making it easy on us ROM hackers, we have enough problems convincing people to use IPS patches... |

First problem: When I open one of the editors, every name/text part and sprite is just garbage (i.e. er4 J! e;; d or similar for text)
Second problem: About 20 seconds after I open the program it just crashes, says it encountered an internal problem and asks if i want to send a report to Microsoft( of course not) I used version 6.3 and 6.31 of the editor, with and without the DLLs provided on Lord J's website(for testing purposes) and almost every version of the FF3 rom ( FF3 (U) v 1.0 and 1.1, FFVI (J) and the likes) I went to a crapload of websites and discussion boards and it doesn't seem to be documented. So, do I have to use an older version, another editor, or is there a way to repair these bugs? |
