By the way, do the different colours of the barrels in the second screenie mean anything, or are they just that way to spice up detail?

Wow, good eye S.N.N. You haven't even seen the entire room, and already you have figured out the puzzle..lol And to think, I believed the different colored barrels may have been too subtle a hint.

As for Wario's game-referencing comments, I'm trying to capture Wario's confrontational/wacky off-beat personality while keeping him like-able to the player. Hehe, I feel like a movie director trying to "capture" feelings and personalities.

If I can make the player chuckle occasionally from not only Wario's comments, but from Mario's responses, I will feel I've done a good job (Again I feel like some sort of hippie movie director)

Lets pretend 4 weeks without any progress or updates DIDN'T happen and just move on to the matter at hand. Its OK, I brought along new screenshots

Yes, I have been working on this project. Yes, progress has has slow and unsteady. Yes, I know I said I would release a more compact, download friendly version of the demo soon and then didn't deliver. I am not going to say why, I just didn't. Anyways, what I have done is added a new area and a few new battle animations [not shown].

When I release a new demo, I highly recommend you start a new game file. Technically, you can use your old save file, but it will cause numerous problems and most likely you will not be able to access the new areas. It was necessary to add new triggers to old events, therefore, if you use your old save game file, you will not activate those triggers and be stuck.

So any updates or something? The pics look really cool. I tried out the first demo and beat it. On the second demo will we be able to start from where we were last stuck on? Or do we have to start over?

Well, an "official" new demo with new areas and more storyline probably wont see the light of day for at least a month. But like I posted before, I will release a kind of version .2 of the last demo. To test out the new compiling method. It should be a lot easier to download and hopefully get more people to play and comment on.

Look for this to be uploaded within the week. It really should only take me 1 day to do this, but I have gotten myself addicted to WoW again....big mistake

Hehe, I'm damned if I do, I'm damned if I don't it seems. I used a file upload site (Rapidshare) to distribute the first demo, people apperantly think its too much of a hassle to get the file from those sites (and I agree) I use a freewebs account to distribute the new demo, and now the server is too slow (I agree as well).

Internet: working as intended I suppose.

Anyways, I just learned of a new way to compile an RPGMaker XP game. It should reduce the file size significantly, and there is no need to download the RTP file. I think I will work on the game a bit, add a little more content, then upload a slightly newer demo. Really only for testing this new compiling method and distribution tweaking.

Here's a tip. Check out the ink pen holder on Luigi's desk in his room. It will restore you. Also, don't be afraid to use Mario's super jump technique often, I gave it a low FP cost so that it could be used liberally. Remember, you can buy fire flowers (Restore FP) at the item shop in East Toad Town.

Any one else have any questions/comments?

Well if thats what you wana here then here it is:
"I can't pass the part where the three Goombas are gaurding the King Goomba, they kill me to fast cause I have little health and I don't have enough coins to buy mushrroms"
LOL

Anyways good game but you will need to change the mesage box gfx to make it look more like a Mario game (and not an rpg makerxp game).

I highly doubt Xkeeper would care if we posted in Spanish in this thread, he's not a ruthless tyrant of a moderator...i think. So watcher's first language is English?...no comment

As for the message box gfx...lol... I guess my game is ALOT better than I thought if THAT is what bothers you. lol I was expecting, "I can't get passed the first boss..there is a huge glitch" I guess my game making skills are better than I thought.

Ok, I'm not obsessed with it , it just has a catchy tune. Some people love VG music. I just like. Don't take it seroiusly.

What did I say to make you think I am being "serious" or mean about the music? I was just pointing out where the music is from. It is a catchy tune, that's why I chose it. I have a huge video game music library on my computer, so its not like I'm against VG music. I was being "serious" about the fact that you did not know how to save. I just thought that was kinda weird.

Failure to communicate, that's all. Again.

Sera mejor hablar en español para no confundir nos.

As encontrado errores en mi juego? Yo se que ay bastante cosas que no están bien, quiero saber cuales son los mas grandes errores y también oir ideas para hacer el juego mas divertido.

That goes for everyone.

So far the demo is pretty good. I personally like the music in Mario's house. How do you save cause when I die I have tp start the whole game over again?

Are you being serious? I know you are a gamer, and I don't mean to be rude, but c'mon. Do I really need to... OK then. Press X at any time while not in a battle to open the main menu. Using the down arrow key, scroll down and highlight "Save" press space bar (I think) to confirm your save. Now when you die, you will be able to load your save file and continue where you left off. Simple.

Just so you know, the music in Mario's house is music from Paper Mario (N64) Its the song that plays while you select a name for your file. I ripped it myself. The battle music is from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the 7 Stars (SNES) when you fight the Axem Rangers. Its a techno remix of the underground theme of SMB1 (NES)

The title screen and beginning intro scene music is an original piece by AlexAR(that's me) Its a remix "spacey" version of the SMB1 land theme.

HA! Its still August 25 here! So I did make my date! Ha you all thought I wasn't goonna make it huh? Well I did! Anyways. Visit my homepage or don't.

Super Mario RPG: Corruption of the Star Shards Demo1 Hehe this link dont really work does it? Just get it from my page then I guess.

Installation: Download the Demo(its in .Zip format). Unzip the 2 files in the zip to your desktop or wherever you want. Then run the MarioRPG.exe. A folder named MarioRPG should have been created. Inside this folder there should be a game.exe file. Try and run that. If the title screen shows, you are good to go. If not, you may need to place that other file that was in the zip (RGSS100J.dll) into the MarioRPG folder. If you still cannot run the game, you may need to download and install that RPG RTP Package I described earlier. E-mail me with error screens and your problems if you cannot get it to work.

Let the games begin.

Controls: Use arrow keys to move
Space bar is action key, press to talk and to jump in certain places
Press X key to open Menu
Press Z key to use special power in overworld (Mario jumps, Wario Pounds)
Press D key to switch party leader (Once Wario joins the party)

If you get it working, and no one has posted after this post, please post that you got it working. lol
