How did you do that (putting overworld graphics into the actual levels)? I only know how to copy bacground tiles into the foreground and vice versa. If I was still hacking, I'd love to be able to incorporate sprite tiles into object tiles to make such things as pillars topped by Super Mushrooms (like the ones in Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom). |

To Hyper Mackrel: I turned the score off, so everyone could see more.
Okay, here is another prototype for the vine; I personally LOVE this one better than the other... I gave it a unique/wierd taste to the "vine". |

You don't need a new thread every time you make new graphics, you know. You can double post as long as the posts are 24 hours apart, if need be.
Anyway, comments: 1) Looks nice, the golden hills at the left especially. Putting OW graphics in a level is a cool idea. 2) Oooooh.... purdy. 3) Also good. Looks like you might have messed up part of the small trees' mouths though, or maybe they always looked like that and I just never noticed. 4) Adding foreground objects is a good way to create depth, but this one doesn't look especially good. It just looks like a big blue line, doesn't appear to be in the foreground at all, and why is there a pillar there anyway? 5) The vines look awesome just the way they are. Like some sort of weird candy in a squeeze tube. It's supposed to be like a fantasy land, isn't it? Makes sense to have some candy in it then. 6) Again, all pretty damn good. By weird objects, do you mean like "wtf is that doing there"? If so, that's fairly simple, just throw in everyday objects that don't belong in odd places. Farm tractors on small platforms, paint cans, etc. BTW, where are your scorebars? |

for the blue area, since you have palm trees, how about adding some larger palm trees, and change the footballs (the bouncing ones and the ones Puntin' Chuck throws) into coconuts?
Bouncing... blue... coconuts... |

Perhaps you can make the vines a somewhat turquoise color.
Let show that it is green, but frozen. The only other color I can think of is purple, but you already have a good amount of it, and too much can be bad. |

Hmm... I'd have never thought you could make overworld trees look so good in a regular level... As for that fence, well to me it looks kind of ugly, priority or no.
EDIT: hmm, I like the vines in screenshot 5, and the usage of the SMAS desert FG with the blue pallette works well, but you need to make the FG darker.. |

Here, I've took the OW trees and put them in the actual level I took Hyper Mackrel's advice and made the fence a layer priority. Here is some of the young trees that blend nicely with the ledges. This is a FG pillar that Mario will go behind, and I also made some that he goes in front of. My wierdest design yet... The vines here are supposed to look unusual-fantasy like. I really do not like the current color, but I need to know what color you would use here? Maybe later I'll put larger spaces between the "c" shaped bars. What wierd objects should I use here? Remember, it's not an Ice level. Just Blue. |
