And "cheque" among others. Funny, I hate British spellings but love the grammer and punctuation.
I actually like the coca-cola idea, but some how I don't think it will work well with the storyline. Oh, well.

That'd explain why he only has one tooth. Storing oil there would be a bad idea anyway; seeing how there's FIRE coming out of the pipes, they'd probably heat up pretty quick.
BTW, we say "colour" here in Canada too.

Originally posted by HyperMackerel Right-O, will use the PNG format from now on. As for the response: Since the fire-worm thing is replacing the Wiggler sprite, I thought it would be appropriate to switch out the wiggler flower with a small fireflower. There aren't many mazes in a row, these are just the graphics I decided to show. Huh, that rhymed. @ Skyon: Well, maybe it is coca-cola. Bowser probably needs all of it to feed the lust of those koopa-kids. You think Ludwig would be satisfied with only ONE soda a day? Deleted User |
Posts: 50/-7750 You just need a little more work with the EXgfx, Pas'ra'chilli.... | Deleted User |

Posts: 1666/5072 First off, use PNG for screenshots.
| As for the images...
Overall the graphics aren't very good but the level design looks promising. Tatrion |
Posts: 1355/2467 You should use PNG graphics format. It preserves image quality better for pictures that shouldn't dither, like video game screenshots.
| And I'm quite fond of it. My only GFX I've made so far is modifications to existing GFX, a bubble, and water currents I don't understand why red lasers are totally safe, as compared to blank space. Do they do anything? Cruel Justice |
Posts: 947/1637 You kill the giant pirahna by stomping on a silver pow. Bada beem bada boom!
| The graphics are very simple and the level design seems surprisingly intracate. Deleted User |

Posts: 2056/4077 Originally posted by Skyon Dude...what was the point of this old thread of yours, then? You have the basic idea down, but it needs a *LOT* of work. For example, on the ice level, some of the frozen water or whatever it is is screwed up. Also, just by looking at the levels, you can tell that they will be far too difficult to be reasonable. The graphics will be tolerable if you fix them up a bit. You can keep the NES style, but some things you made just look ugly. Disruptive Idiot |
Posts: 20/56 If you want NES style graphics, make Mario and all the other sprites NES style as well. Otherwise, it works, and don't be discouraged by others who dislike the style. | Deleted User |
Posts: 675/-7750 Why don't you take my advice: Put more shading into you custom GFX, to revamp your style in the game; put some very interesting BG into your hack, and you will have a goo thing going! Because you've got it all going on in the actual level editing; I know I said that, but it never hurts to say it again, especially when a few of us did not like the NES style GFX. | S.N.N. |
Posts: 590/2028 Looks pretty good. The giant pirahna in the second screenie isnt really centered in the pipe though, it's coming out more towards the left side. I dunno if you can fix this, but if not, it's not THAT major
| I kina like the hand-drawn GFX. Much better than what I could do. Nice work Deleted User |
Posts: 674/-7750 I must say you need to work on your shading, and the NES style is just too lame, but that's just me.
| Your designs and puzzles are quite good, despite the bad graphics. Good level editing! SnifflySquirrel |
Posts: 12/80 The hack sounds promising, but I'm not too fond of the custom graphics...they look sort of NES-ish, in a bad way. And here:
| Originally posted by Pas'ra'chilli There's some weird glitching here in the status bar. (Look at the "MARIO" text in the top left corner.) Shiryu |
Posts: 44/275 That Nes style is original, but it doesn't fit with the sprites...
| And those vines in the 3rd screenshot does just stay there or are growing vines that change their direction? Stifu |
Posts: 235/647 Looks quite empty because of the lack of colors and backgrounds... And the few colors that are there look too flashy.
| Level design looks weird, but I'd have to play the thing to tell for sure whether it's bad. Pas'ra'chilli |
Posts: 1/58 Here are some screenshots of a Mario hack, I've been working on. I'd release it as a demo now, but quite frankly it needs some more work (like adding custom backgrounds to the levels and needing an overworld). If the color seems a little washed out it's probably the bloody jpg format.
| A pipemaze level. The same pipemaze level. That giant piranha plant is probably blocking the very pipe you need to go into. Question is how do you get rid of it? I've tried to give the graphics a flatter look by simplifying the colors. Hopefully this works. If not, well... Lots of pipes, oil, and fire. Probably not the safest place to be. An ice level. Eventually these levels will all have names at the top via BFM's level name patch. This level is called "the Furnace". Mario will have to turn on both the gas and the power to be able to progress passed the ice level above. A laser maze. The red lasers are safe to walk through, the greenish-white ones are lethal. The first level of the game. Mario hears of Koopa's new teleporter and goes to destroy it. Much chaos in sues and Mario must escape the lab alive. The hack will include many custom blocks and graphics, a few custom sprites, and some hard puzzles. Once I finish adding backgrounds and an overworld I'll release a demo. Creative criticism? Unhelpful comments? Doesn't matter, let loose! |
