In all honesty, I didn't even realize you'd been away from the board until I read this thread I don't mean for that to sound mean or anything, so hopefully it doesn't It's good to see that you were able to solve your problem though

Have fun with your spree later, although chances are it's going to happen while I'm at work. I suppose that can't really be helped though. Anyways, it's good to see you back, and hopefully next time you have a problem with your connection, you'll have a better idea of what could be causing the problem.

Oh Thoughtless, you know he'll go missing sooner or later. That's just the way of the world, I think. And when he does, you'll be the first one to be able to help.

Glad you found out the problem, and I hope you're able to spree sooner than later. While obviously not ENTIRELY due to your absence, it's been rather slow lately.

Damn it.

And all the time I spent to make that milk carton with your picture is wasted.

Bah to you mister. Bah to you.

*waves* Hello. My name's Colin. I'm sure a lot of you missed me over the past few days, and I *thought* that I was gone because of DSL problems.

That's a half-truth. The truth is that my DSL was wonky, but it wasn't because of my ISP.

Flash back to Thursday. My parents got a new portable phone and plugged it in and all that. Perfect. No problem. It never occurred to me that the new phone and the net problems were related.

So after pulling my hair out from Thursday until this morning, I passed by the new phone this morning and paused. I pushed some stuff out of the way to get to the phone jack... and noticed the problem. You see, when you're running a DSL connection, you have to place filters on the phones. Granted, if you have a fantastic connection, you might be able to get away with it, but just one phone plugged in without a filter can have disasterous consequences.

...of course, this phone did NOT have a filter in it.

I unplug the phone, wait 5 minutes and my modem finally stops losing sync.

The moral of the story: Don't trust parents to plug in phones when you're not around to suggest these obvious things.

So yeah. I'm back. Expect a spree later.
