No, no, no. I never said you annoyed me; your typing is more or less fine. This board in general has above average grammar, just compared to other internet places. I'm talking about the people who just don't seem to care about grammar and spelling at all.

wat u r takking abowt?!?!

Now I remember why you're my favorite administrator, Nick.

You do the exact sort of things with your power that I did.

Yeah, you know, I blame this all on NSNick, who went on an editing spree.

I am so sneaky, I edited your post and made it look like you edited it. I'm goooood.

Well I DO have SOME free time left, you know. What better way to spend it then sending the entire board into chaos over punctuation?

Yes, it's amazing how many people suck at this, altough English is such an easy language.

On a side note: I also hate people who don't use capitals.
Capitals make the difference between:
I helped my uncle Jack off a horse
and
I helped my uncle jack off a horse.

Do people like this count as a race? B/c if so, that's racist, Dei. Racist. Oh and shouldn't you be studying for that test rather than ranting about les apostrophes? And does anybody wonder why we don't just have plain old strophes?

I've been on other message boards where AIM speak is allowed, and just... the overall intelligence of the board is 1/100 of this one. It makes a difference. Introduce to the board one newbie that types correctly, and can properly articulate, and one that types in AIM shorthand, and it will be obvious which one is liked more. Not to mention the one that looks more intelligent.

"AIM shorthand" isn't always bad, but there is a line somewhere.

I don't mind speaking to somebody over IM who might abbreviate "fucking" to "fkn", or have a few acronyms such as "rofl", "afk" or whatever. The occasional abbreviation or acronym doesn't worry me.

I don't even mind the occasional silly speak "omgwtfbbq", depending on context.

What bothers me is when every second word is abbreviated to the point where it no longer resembles the English language, or when it's all silly.

I don't see the point in abbreviating words that are already short via AIM either ("you" to "u") nor do I see any timesaving qualities to not capitalising the letter I when referring to oneself. The only time I will find "you" to "u" acceptable is if somebody's written me a particularly long SMS Text Message and needs to save up the character space. ~_~

A lot of people use text messaging on their phones. In that case theyre justified since typing correctly is a pain on a cellphone. Id say it probably encourages some people to type like that online. Hence your going to see it unless it is formally discouraged by the forum (which its here).

The reason why it's like that, is that becuse find AIM speak acceptable. Which is kind of sad really, some people speaking like that probably knows English pretty well but dosen't care or really think they save valuable time by typing you instead of u.

I'm not a grammar or spelling nazi, but it's beyond me how someone can mess up a language so much with AOL speak.

Well, on AIM, I rarely use proper format...

I always capitalize I though and I spell most words out, but I lack periods and I usually don't capitalize the first word in what ever I'm saying.
