Well, there's that, or you can delete its files from C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins. (Path may vary depending where you installed Firefox.) |

Clicking on Add Engines in the dropdown menu when you click on the search engine logo, will bring up a page with a link at the bottom to an extension that removes search engines. |

I decided to get Firefox finally. I am still testing it and the only problem I have so far is that I can't seem to be able to remove search engines from the integrated search toolbar. any way to do that? |

There's also Opera. I couldn't get used to it, but you may have better luck. |

Yeah, any browser based on the IE core has the same vulnerabilities that IE has, which is many. So Firefox is likely to be more secure.  |

First off, I recommend you do one (hopefully) simple thing. Download Firefox, install it, and give it a try for a couple days. After you get a feel for how things have to be done in that browser as opposed to Maxthon, you should have a pretty good idea of how it's going to work for you in terms of being easy to use. Chances are it'd take a bit of getting used to, but after that, it shouldn't be too bad.
When it comes to the security side of things, the only bit of information I was able to find against Maxthon was the following: "The IE core, by definition, would make Maxthon more suceptible to spyware or virii exploiting it since that's what the malware is designed to exploit." I'm sure Firefox still has a problem or two that have gone unnoticed as well though 
I haven't yet had any security related problems yet with Firefox, but it's worth mentioning that Firefox is the only browser that gets used on this computer. No others, except for Internet Explorer, but that's only if I run across a page that will only display properly in it. Overall, I'd recommend Firefox, but I really can't, seeing as that's pretty much the only browser I've used for a while now The main thing you can do right now is, as I already said, download it, and give it a try to see which you like / which one suits your needs better  |

Right now I'm running the Maxthon web browser on my PC and was wondering if I should stick with it or rather switch over to Firefox (or another browser if needs be). My main concerns are security and ease of use. Any suggestions are welcome! |
