just draw on the computer. Something I've found with scanning pictures in is that with a pencil, no matter how hard you press when you draw, it never scans in EXACTLY how you want it... Or is that just My stupid hardware acting up?

Just use squared graph paper. Each square represents one 16x16 block. Simple.

That's kind of small, though. There's barely any room for detail.

Oh, and it's a better idea to draw the graphics on your computer. The only practical point to drawing stuff on paper is to plan level layouts, which isn't such a bad idea.

Try for 8x8 Pixel for each Square (better get 5mm instead of 4mm paper).

I mostly did it that way back when designing the overworld.

I've always found MS Paint to be the best tool for drawing such things, anyway

Easy to convert it to the correct pixel size, and easy to work with in that style anyway.

I believe he meant each square would represent one pixel, but that would make things kind of big... Anyways, there is a purpose to drawing your graphics on paper, he might not always have acsess to a decent computer.

Plus, how of the image do you think you can keep if you scale a pencil drawn image down to 16x16 pixel blocks?

yeah it might be easier if you just draw your blocks on your computer

especially when you're dealing with such a small image

Are you asking how many [unit of length] a line on a piece of paper should be to become 16 pixels long after being scanned in?

If so, it depends on tons of things. The scanner's resolution, for instance.

I'm guessing Mario is about 5 feet tall, so... 2 to 2.5 square feet.

Though I'm not sure what that information could any possible use for.

If i made my own graphics on paper and scanned them how big of a "box" should they fit in?
