I have an x800 Pro 256 MB, never had any problems with it and I have an aquamark score of 60911. (64bit AMD Athlon 3200+ (Clocks at 2.3 Ghz) and 1 Gig of DDR RAM))

Looks like a good deal to me. That card shouldn't have any trouble with most games on the market now, provided you have a decent CPU to match.

It only cost me around $120, and while I'm not sure how that translates to AU dollars, I'm sure it's within your price range. |

Well I’ve tired everything to fix my x800 problem. For example- Overheating monitoring, updating etc… soon I will install a new card (tomorrow).
Any help? |

I'm looking at an nVidia GeForce FX5500 256MB for around AU$100... What do you think... is it a good buy? And just so you know, I have an AGP 8x and a bit less than 150 bucks to spend on the card. |

I have had nothing but problems with my ATI x800gt. It keeps crashing with call of duty 2! All my specs are up to scratch and now I’m going to get a nvidia 6600 gt.
Do NOT get ATI x800 series! |

I would go with ATi, but that's just my opinion (I'm an ATi person):
Anyway, for pretty decent graphics, speed, and cost, I recommend the ATI Radeon 9600. It's pretty cheap now, and should run Black & White 2 perfectly (even my old 9200 handled it good with about 40 FPS). After that, if you got about $150 or so, the ATI Radeon 9800 is your best way to get for pretty much any game today: runs them all at pretty much the best quality. But if you're a monster like me, you'll dish out $399 for the absolute best (and maybe last) AGP card available today: the ATI Radeon X850. Each of these cards delivers higher than 1.1 pixel shaders, and all, of course, have VESA support. They're also all Direct X 9 and Open GL 1.5 (or 2.0 in better cases) to handle the absolute newest games. I see you have tons of RAM, and a great processor, so that's not a problem. Although, if you want to go the path of nVidia, that's another route, but I can't take you there. 
(All these cards have an AGP 4x/8x interface, so I assume that's what you have. Unless you have PCI, you're good to go. Also, PCI-Express is the next step up from AGP, but you should wait a while for a decent card to come out.) |

Get the newest ATI or GeForce card if you have enough money. If not get a few generations back and it should still be fine. |

Hey there, I was just wondering what the best video card would be for my computer?
I have a P4 3.00Ghz, 1.2GB RAM, and I want to play Black and White 2 (needs pixel shading 1.1 or above) and I also need it to have VESA support... Does anyone have any suggestions for a video card with decent RAM and speeds, but also these features? Any help is much appreciated... ~Jono |
