Speaking of the new weapons, how is the flame-thrower working out?

No, a full menu isn't necessary, but I'm having a hard time coding it, and I'm having a hard time working with the game engine to get the new features I want in the game, such as new weapons, bigger and faster enemies. I would literally have to re-write the whole game engine to do what I want to do, and because of some inspiration I got, it has made me over-confident. Really what I wanted is a brand new MM game that plays completely different, and right now it still plays like the original NES style.

A full menu is necessary for an action-oriented game? And what kind of new stuff do you really need to add?

Pretty much everything! I can't get the full menu to work, and I'm having a hard time getting the new stuff into the game.

What are you having trouble implementing?

I'm changing the direction of the hack because I'm having a hard time implementing what I wanted to do. It sucks, but I still think I can make a good hack out of Mega Man 3.

Goodluck trying to figure that out.
You're going to have to literally write up to 100+ more bytes of code if you want to not make it duplicate itself like that.

The writes to $780-$7AF can get quite complicated.

Now I'm really starting to make a mess of the game engine!

I'm working on making a full-screen inventory.

I really love you you came up with Protoman. It takes the right CHR to do it too.

Mega Man: Wily's Conquest 2 may be the hack you're thinking of, kuja killer. The increased speed is only available on easy mode, and I think that it worked out pretty well. The speed was really fast, though, likely a little too fast, but you could still get normal speed by playing hard mode (assuming I'm not talking about some unreleased version I may have gotten from the author, heh). *shrugs*

I've been doing work on Mega Man 1 and may potentially release a hack sometime (though I also may never even finish what I've been working on). Mega Man's running speed has been increased in my hack. This is something that I had done years ago and totally forgotten about; the new speed became normal to me and Mega Man in other MM games seems a tad sluggish to me. It's not a major change, but it definitely makes things a bit faster, and I think it really works out well. The game likely wouldn't even be playable at a slower speed; level designs would have to be changed because it would make the game more difficult and make it so that some wide gaps (half a screen wide, in the most extreme cases in a single certain stage) probably wouldn't be jumpable.

So, speeding up Mega Man can work, in my opinion. He may go a bit too fast depending on the speed, but upping his speed a bit can definitely work to the hack's advantage, in my opinion. I love the little extra bit of speed in my own hack.

Now, as for Mega Man Action. It's nice that you're keeping us updated, Rockman, but could you make some more substantial updates? So far, this hack looks pretty average. You claim that you're doing these various changes to make the game more action oriented, and that's cool, but the screenshots really show little out of the ordinary thus far beside some simple level design and palette changes. Do you have anything more meaty so far?

kuja killer, you might not like it, but yeah Megaman has a higher running speed. The game is going to be faster paced. But, I am going to do everything I can to make the game play differently from other Megaman games. You might enjoy the final version.

Well, whatever you feel like. I'm not trying to stop you or anything or discourage you. Just my personal opinion.

I didn't like playing the Megaman Zero games on GBA that much because zero walks to damn fast. That was not the only single reason why i didn't play those games much though, their was a few other reasons besides that though.

Just make sure you take your time on things though.

Okay, first off, the hack looks decent, nothing spectacular and nothing shitacular. Decent.

Now about your comment... about the Zero games, I know it's off topic, but I felt that Zero walked way too damn slow most of the times and found myself trying to dash to get through the level or find elves to make him walk slower.

Yeah, Protoman works fine. The music in the game is now faster. Also, you can rapid fire your Mega Buster, and the bullets go faster too.

The red leaves look better than the blues ones did Just don't use brown, I already have brown leaves in my hack which I'll probably never finish (Decided to do a real hack rather than an alpha recreation). You got Proto Man fully functional? I stuck him in my hack but I haven't got around to making him work right yet.

Skreename, the way the spikes are done is how it was done in the original. I'm merely staying consistent to that.

I liked the purple stage select screen that I made a game genie code out of, so I'm using it here. Now, the leaves are red, and you get to fight Protoman!

This is a really minor complaint, but... In these screens...

The right hand edge of the spikes lacks the broken glass thing from the left side... Very minor, and possibly impossible to fix, given the space.

Of course, otherwise, it looks nice. Sounds interesting, too.

I haven't play the original format of Megaman 3 for a long time with no changed graphics and only Hard to beat levels. Reminds me of Googie's or Vagla's Super Challenging Remix Megaman 1 hack.
