Heheh. Seems to me the SMAS artist used blank space in the ROM as a scratch pad. A lot of those poses are similar to ones used in the game, but have minute differences in arm/head/feet placement.

There's a difference between a prototype EPROM and an actual released cartridge. The Chiki Chiki Boys stuff was found in the Sonic 2 Beta EPROM, not an actual released game... This was apparently found in a released one.

It's not a damaged romdump, is it? I know a few have gotten circulated enough that they're considered the proper ones, even if they have glaring problems...

And only in the English version, so it was probably added by NOA during localisation.

Unless Ninja Warriors Again was Nintendo in-house, I highly doubt they'd give out their internal ROM cartridges without wiping them clean. With fire.

The most problably is what GeckoYamori said...

Didn't HAL fo Eathbound? If so, that explains Kirby more than anything

Those Mario sprites are all in the SMAS rom, equally unused. I'm guessing an overdump off a multicart or something.

HH, the heart is from the SMB1 ending

Aren't those hearts near Mario's hand from Zelda: LTTP?

I just downloaded to japanese rom so that I can scatch up some graphics for my SMW hack. And I just found it.

Heh, I suppose no-one checked this rom's graphics before.

Here is an update:

Not to speak, the game was not made by Nintendo.

Indeed. The sprites (other than these) are totally different, the gameplay is totally different, there are no characters who appear in both games, the engine wouldn't appear to be any more similar than, say, Seiken Densetsu is to Super Mario Allstars, and the game isn't even in the same genre.

Are you sure this is an unadulterated rom? I'll check my english or us rom to see if I can dig anything up. It is possible that extremely early versions of this rom were based on Super Mario All-stars or a development version, but it seems quite odd for a thing like that to happen.

The original Ninja Warriors was a coin-op apparently ported to some systems but not to the NES. NWA was only ever in development for the SNES. Someguy's theory holds no weight.

It was an sequel to an arcade game I believe. All of it is SNES (That I know of).

odd, maybe Nintendo(I assume they did that game) based it on a beta of Mario all-star

Well I was looking in the rom sprites of Ninja Warriors Again, and this is what I found.

Most of these are reconisable from Allstars, but some of these mario ones I haven't seen before.
