I think that was the point of that puzzle. Spacial thinking or something silly along those lines.

It's not just you. I took a closer look, and it turns out you're right.

No, not there. I mean, that stops, but not into nothing. I meant.

They still make these. I remeber these, how fun they used to be... I liked the find the hidden items in the pictures the best.

I remember reading those at the dentist's office. There used to be a fricking hilarious Dysfunctional Goofus and Gallant site that published demented reader-submitted captions (including one of mine! ), but Highlights' lawyers sent the webmaster a nastygram, and he didn't feel like fighting it, so he shut down the site. That was a sad day.

Reminds me of dentist appointments.

Actually, that's the only place I ever read those magazines: doctor's offices. Even when I was in high school. People gave me crazy fucking looks. :/

I also have that particular issue of Puzzlemania.

I think I may actually have that Puzzlemania up in my room somewhere right now, along with lots of other old magazines that I really need to get rid of. Fun stuff, though.

Oh geez, I think all of those that I had were thrown out or given away...

Still, another great little diversion from the norm. Like I said, there were (and are) some really good magazines out there for us kids who wanted to learn and have fun doing so.

I had LOADS of Puzzlemanias. They were awesome... Never actually wrote in them, though... always did the puzzles in my mind, leaving the pages blank.

Yea! Puzzlemania all the way! I forgot what it was called...

Had that one. Puzzlemania boasted color on every page while Highlights...didn't.

My mom found a huge stack of puzzlemanias and highlights about 2 weeks ago. She gave them to my brother, since he likes puzzles 'n suff...

Also, my favorite part when I was about 11 was the editor's note near the beginning actually Don't know why, but I did.

Puzzlemainia? I vaguely remember that thing.

Come to think of this, this reminded me of some huge game based around Highlights. Or maybe it was around Tonka Trucks. I don't remember. Anyhow, the fifth or sixth level was a hidden picture level in space that was a pain in the ass to do. I never finished it.

Bah, highlights... fun for a while...

Puzzlemainia was where it was at for me

Since I was, what, 8, they were actually challenging

Only read it in waiting rooms. They were so childish back then as they are now.(Heh!) Fnuckin' Goofus was such a dick. It's Time & Life and National Geographic all the way baby!(Have issues of NG back from the 60s and 70s all the way up to now)

Oh no, I'm not saying it was politically incorrect. I just meant that it's probably more politically correct now than before. It's more than just the extremes, Colin. I think before it was just...there...not really to one side or the other...but with the way things are going, it's probably more to the one side now.

I don't recall it being politically INcorrect. I mean, granted the issues I still have are probably in the garage somewhere, but I can't recall anything bad. :\

I think the magazine is still coming out, actually. Probably more politically correct than it was when I was a kid, but otherwise likely unchanged for the most part. I liked it a lot, all of it. I remember making several of the craft projects they had, too.
