Actually, I don't even use M16-7K.

I have about 264874652839 ASM hacks in my hack, and it could have been any one of them that caused it to get messed up. I don't know, because I never use ZSNES (Apart from Savestate Palette&GFX ripping, and intro recordings, it's inferior to Snes9x).

But Smallhacker, either way, somebody else (Fu, or the creator of ZSNES) fucked up, not me. And as long as it doesn't affect how it runs in Snes9x, I don't care (too much). People are just going to have to play my hack in Snes9x when I release it because I am not going to spend days of work trying to clear up somebody else's mess.

Odd. So that's the whole story. Strangely, the EXACT same thing happened to me once before when fooling around with custom sprites. I used the "weak flying goomba" example sprite in one of the spots in [the sprite list] safe for use, and it had that fading to white glitch in the levels where I inserted it, and one other random one that did not have the sprite in it, much less had anything to do with it.. Fortunetly, I had learned from previous experiences to back up often.

As for pinpointing the cause, if loading the level works in other (good) SNES emulators, it may be a ZSNES Bug. More likely, however, it is a combination of all three possible culprits that is causing the problem.

In my experience, Zsnes was the emu who accepted strange routines. Y'know, like if you write code that spills from one bank into another it'll accept it while Snes9x will have a fit. (Rightfully, I suspect. Am I wrong in guessing that a real SNES would jump to the beginning of the same bank when code stretches into another one?)

So, in which levels will that happen? Are only levels affected, which uses the m16-7k-thing, or could that screw up a random level?

Possible explainations:

1) FuSoYa's ASM hack to the level loading routine does something one's normally not allowed to do on a real SNES, but Snes9x accepts it anyway. (However, it doesn't explain why it doesn't always happen)

2) A Zsnes bug.

3) A bug in Lunar Magic's level saving routine. (However, it doesn't explain why the level still can be loaded in LM)

Ice Man, a heavy user of m16-7k, once said that his hack was corrupted by m16-7k. Specifically, in this topic and another topic which escapes me at the moment. Ice Man is a credibable source as well, so we can take his word for that.

There is m16-7k, but that is unwieldly, plus it will corrupt your hack after a while of using it. Don't worry, however. You'll get used to laying down Map16 soon enough.

When setting a BG it says I have to put the tiles for the background picture it says I have to set the tiles in the BG editor? Is there an easier way to do this cause i'm no artist and I have a hard time making it the way it is suppose to look.
