I just don't get why there shouldn't be two at the bottom...

I agree, the side would be really weird.  At least at the top, they would look how they do at the bottom, which isn't terrible.. just in the way a bit (if you did put them at the top.). But if I had to, I can live with it at the top. The side? That would be irritating. |

To the right of the board? That would throw things off even more than one at the top would. Keep them at the bottom, or if they're at the top put them to the side at the top. Putting them anywhere else would really disrupt the way things go. |

Sigh* Ads suck. The one at the bottom doesn't bother me though. I voted for the pink colored one. Ads just suck, thats what I say, and we have enough. More would bug me, and if we get more, I wouln't enjoy that very mutch. (Some ads can be desturbing...) |

Well, it was mostly just to see if it would matter -- truthfully we don't have much of a need for it right now, heh.
Of course, if we ever did need one, we could always stick it to the right of the board. |

I'm voting "Over my dead body" only because having an ad on the top would really throw off the flow of this place. Unless it's a google bar, like it's been recently mentioned, and put in a very stylish manner. ;
I personally like the ads at the bottom, since it occasionally provides some humor. I just started laughing when I saw the ad in a story after we had killed some turtles. XD Edit: Just randomly thought of this, I think the AE Torture scheme should have ads all over the place  |

Well, it depends how big the google bar was. Quite honestly, it wouldn't do me any good, as I have the google toolbar on my browser anyway. But it's not too bad...would you be able to make it look differently depending on the layout, so as to make it more aesthetically pleasing? |

Google bar. if anyone asks for something which we think they should google, we can say "LOOK AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE" instead of "Google it."
I ignore the the ads at the bottom either way. it's cool seeing what they're trying to sell, though. |

If they ever contain images like the ads at the bottom sometimes do (or did?) I'm blocking them.

I wouldn't be opposed to a Google search bar. Hell, if not for the obnoxious banners that tend to appear, I wouldn't block Google ads at all.
Of course if they're pay-per-view ads, not pay-per-click, then there's really no need to put them at the top. |

I wouldn't like one at the top. It would be very noticable, in the way, actually change how the board looks (the one at the bottom is hardly noticable, I love it). But if you're desperate for money, then whatever. I'd still prefer it at the bottom if you can do that. |

i have a shared hosting plan so no not dedicated. but why would this board need a dedicated server? it's a pretty small board after all. |

Yeah, it's not a bandwidth issue. XK just wants to get a better server. We're using a virtual one right now, and the one you have Max is probably a virtual one too. I don't recall seeing many "real servers" with bandwidth caps but... *shrug*
Our own hosting would be nice too, if XK really wanted to I could look into the possiblitied of getting a server of our own. But someone would have to pay any costs that comes up (and if I was the one who got the server... it would probably be me. I don't have a lack of money, but I don't want to have too many expenses either.), as the ads dosen't cover it wholly. |

Our hosting is $60/mo... psuedo-dedicated server, although we share it with jplegacy, as well.
O)f course, being able to get our own hosting (without all these other sites, as well) would be nice. |

if you have ∞ bandwidth why would you need ads to cover the bills? i assumed you needed it cause you were going over your limit and was being overcharged.
or are you actually trying to make money? i could host you for free you know. or matybe im misunderstanding your post or something |
