Yeah, I already wrote about that in one or two other places (my blog, for one) and listed quite a few flaws in the idea. Not just the obvious problem of relying on a Sony console not breaking, but other things, like the obscene prices rental stores would undoubtedly be charged for rentable discs (so much for small stores) and the people who won't even bother to buy a console that won't play used games. (My mom's boyfriend plays PS2 constantly, and he buys all his games used. I'm sure he'd be happy with an Xbox 360 if this wasn't an option with the PS3. ) I may not think too highly of Sony, but I really doubt they'd be that stupid. They probably just patented it for the sake of having a patent. (Honestly, patenting something should only be legal if you ever actually use the idea. It's unfair to those who actually intend to use it, possibly for something really cool. Though I can't imagine this particular idea being used in anything good, the point remains.)

Sony has a patent for some technology like that but they haven't used it yet. The speculation is that the PS3 might be the test run but I don't think gamers would readily... *ahem* ...embrace that.

Nintendo is awesome but I partially agree on the 'lack of violent games' bit. Sure, you don't need a lot of violent games, but they're nice to have. So often I see a commercial for a really cool, only slightly or not at all violent game, and I think I'd like to get it, and then at the end I look at all the little logos... Xbox, PS2, sometimes PC. It's not that they need more violent games, it's that they need more games period. I've always been one to stick up for Nintendo when people say they have all kiddy games, but honestly, compare the Gamecube's roster to other consoles'. Family-fun games are fine but every now and then I'd like to just blow some virtual heads off or steal some e-cars or something. My only option is to get these games for PS2, and those things break down so much it's not funny. (Plus my PS2 is always in use. )

As far as next-gen goes... Getting Rev ASAP. Might get a 360 later if it has a more impressive library than the original (sports, sports, sports, beach volleyball, sports, shooter, shooter, sports... yawn). Was thinking about getting a PS3 like 3-4 years after its launch to give them time to fix most of the really stupid flaws, but after that rootkit incident, I don't buy Sony products anymore. You lose, Sony.

Ok, I just want to say something that maybe many of you never thought of. Nintendo is a GAMING company. Sony and Mircosoft? They have Gaming departments.
((Actually, I'm not trying to say anything bad about Sony, they are great in the Gaming field and brought things like FF to us.))

Having said that, I want to try out the Revolution and the PS3. Although, if I had to choose, I'd get the Revolution first. Xbox 360.. well... I will probably have some random friend that has it. Same way I played Halo 2.. great game.. don't want to own it.

Graphics.. Graphics... Doom 3 or FF3? Maybe Smash Bros? Like I had to ask...

Also, I heard that once you play a PS3 game on your PS3 console, the game won't work on any other PS3 console. Sounds rediculus but is it true?

I think they decided against it, but it was considered and may still be considered.

Starfox Assault is decent.

Starfox adventures is decent... the first run through the game. It basically have no replay value. :/

Yeah so anyway, Doom3 is such a great game. I mean its awesome, how can you not like Doom3 and all its pretty graphics? eh? eh?

Graphics are fun, and good, but they shouldn't be the emphazis.(sp) of games as it is right now.

I like how some people said that the DS would be the next Virtual Boy... and my guess is that it's going to end up doing more business than Nintendo thought it would. Funny how that works out sometimes.

This ceased to be a problem for me when either when:

A) I left school
B) I got around to owning all current generation consoles.

When you can afford all the current platforms, it doesn't matter what other people think is the best console; you have all three regardless. You can feel superior to fanboys who can only afford one console, and try to make as much of their lot as possible by hyping it up ridiculously.

Having said that, I'm not getting a 360 just yet, and I probably won't be getting a PS3 at launch either. That's because I know the Revolution is going to provide the best gaming experiences and more of them. I'm going to buy the revolution because I enjoy playing Nintendo games more than any others.
When it comes to graphics, I really think people at the beginning of the current generation: graphical power means relatively little now. It's what you do with it that truely counts.

Maybe they let you down with Virtual boy, but many of us who actually bothered to give it a good chance happen to really like the system and some of the games for it. It could have been better (read: Sega VR), but it's far from bad.

Nintendo is Nintendo, and that will never change. They always make great games and systems, and haven't let me down yet. Microsoft seems to be catching on, and it's online debut was a smart move which placed them in a strategic place for the market. Sony is being Sony: shiny, and carrying a "fuck you" attitude with them. Then again, they always have. Really, if you're told you'll have to work harder and pay us more money just to play their system, would you be likely to compromise? I'm not.

Bleh, I could care less for the Nintendo haters.

However, I despise blind Nintendo fanboys like the plague...

All hail Nintendo!

The rest are just trying too hard. Well, Nintendo is trying too hard too but still. It's better than anything else.

Personally, I have become to be less found of Nintendo even though I have supported it for almost all my life. My friend pisses me off and always says "Nintendo sucks!" then wants to come over my house to play my Gamecube. Really, I have been turned on Nintendo because a lot of games I really wanted never came out on the Gamecube because it was "Too complex." I was mad about not being able to get Burnout 3, Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith, and others, but I was happy to see they made some games and put them on two discs like Enter the Matrix. As for the Revolution, my friend turned me against it. I never saw the controller, and when I did, I decided I wasn't going to like it. I don't want to play my games with a controller like that. I just like how it is now and how it's going to be. When I first got the Gamecube, I thought it was going to be really cool. Then, I found out that the discs didn't hold as much information as the PS2 and Xbox discs, and that it couldn't play DVDs or CDs. Those are some things I wouldn't have minded. The three things I still appreciated about it today are the fact that it's small and lightweight, fast loading, and the fun games that I now find to be old and boring I've played them so many times. If I see some improvement with Nintendo by the time the Revo comes out, I may think about getting it. Otherwise, I stand by my thoughts.

Oh yeah, DS rules. No matter how much I may hate a lot about Nintendo, really just the Gamecube, I think they did great with the DS and will never hate it.

It's a rumor based on a patent Sony holds that is a few years old, Havik.

Some of the best games, scratch that, the BEST games that were ever released were for the NES, SNES and some for the sega megadrive. Graphics affect nothing in my opinion. Sure it looks sweet but its all about gameplay and new ideas and thats what Nintendo are implementing into their new console.

*Snort* XD

Theres an article... no, wait, 3 articles in the Washington post today... about the 360

Oh, the hype

Eh, I adore Nintendo, its that their controller is a mixed bag for me... I hate it, and yet when I think of all of the things you can do with it, I love it again. I just want to wait and see what happens... who knows, it could be (pardon my pun) revolutionary!

Well im not interested in the 360 because the only game coming out for it in the near future that I want will be on the PC too and my old xbox serves its purpose just fine. It runs my emulators on the TV

I will eventually get both the PS3 and the Revolution but which one I buy first depends on the launch lineup of both systems (And maybe date depending on how far apart the releases are). I am really looking forward to trying that controller with games like Metroid Prime and am also curious how this will change games like Zelda and Mario.
