Keep in mind that Tarale has a severe allergy to cats. Too bad.
A hamster or a guinea pig are the best choices, I think. I assume that you don´t want pets that are too big. Maybe a bunny would fit you. 
Ferrets are rarely kept as pets in sweden. So far I´ve only seen one. |

You should get a kitty or a hamster. Cats pretty much take care of themselves too  . Just make sure they get fed and then it'll be all good. A hamster or a bunny could be coolio too, depending on what you'd like or easier for you to take care of. |

Ferret! My friends ferret was just so awesome. Sucks that it died. But it lived really long. I think ferrets were the best choice on the list. |

Koalas are not pets, and I don't think they'd adapt to that well either. :-/ Same for echidnas and such, and wallabies. I think there are laws also saying I can't have any of those as pets anyways. Particularly the koala, as it's hard to get the particular leaves they eat...
Hedgehogs aren't common here in Australia, I doubt I'd be able to find one easily. |

Yeah guinea pigs are skittish. My ex's dad owns one and she was skittish whenever I wanted to hold her but took right to me though. 
Plus sign abomination- I don't think you can have koalas as pets. Although it would be cool to own one. Reminds me a few years ago when WWE went to Australia for tour and Kurt Angle really wanted to get a koala. lol |

Have you considered a hedgehog? They make excellent pets and are uber-cuddly.
And as a former owner of rats/guinea pigs/etc. I seriously suggest the rat in opposition to the guinea pig. The simple fact is that rats are more sociable and guineas are really, really skittish. |

One day, our snake's terrarium was really cold so my dad took the snake out (he was cold, too) and put him under his shirt and went to sleep for 4 hours. The snake curled up just laid there the entire time. |

Just for everybody with the cat thing -- I can't, because I'm horribly allergic to cats. I tried to have one once, it resulted in a six-month-long asthma attack. 
I prefer to breathe than to have a cat. Oh, and for you guys suggesting snakes, I'm not fond of snakes and they're not cuddly so
As for hamsters, I don't think we see many of those for sale in Aus, but lots of Guinea Pigs. |

I voted ferret because they are so cute and cuddly. They are kind of high maintenance until you get used to having one then you wouldn't know how you could have not gotten along without one. You do have to ferret proof the whole house though so they don't get trapped or lost somewhere's.  Beware they like to steal and hide things too.
Also I would suggest a house cat as they're cute and cuddly as well. Although all eight of ours are pain in the ass today from what I hear from my mom. |

BOOO!! Get a snake and feed it rats! That's what my household did about a month ago. When Percy (our Columbian Red-Tailed Boa) eats, he attacks the mice/rats like lightning and squeezes them to death within 30 seconds. Then it's down the hatch!
The coolest animal-related thing I've ever seen. I really recommend it. If you consider it and need any more info about snakes, feel free to ask anytime. |

I must be the only person who does not like hamsters.
I had one; Snowball was it's name and it was a bit of a time consumer. To change his water every day, to clean his little living area every so often, to fed him this and that. It was not the ideal pet at the moment when I had no time to care for it. I am bitter though. The damn thing bit me enough times on the same finger. |

Get a guinea pig or a hamster... theyre so cute when they fall asleep on your lap
Its also fun to build huge, extensive cages for them for them to play in. 
A house cat would be a little more high maintainence, but it would last a little longer, and would become a lot more attached and cuddly if you were a good owner. Id stay away from reptiles and birds... just my opinion...
