Andy, if you notice at the new blocks and the donut blocks; you can see that the cement blocks look so much more "sleek" as compared to "sloppy" I love the cement blocks Andy.
The green part of the grass should be one of the darker greens used in your hills, and the lighter part of your soil should be a little darker close to the spot's darkness. (My opinion) Change the green of the "i" in your info box to a simple white. |

What do people think of the block change? Even I think it looks pretty good. |

The hill all the way on the right fades darker then lighter.
And, your clouds could use a bit of a color change, as well as the standard SMW ground. Other than that, I'm liking where this is going. |

Is that any better?

You know what? I think asdf is right; the Purplish-blue sky worked for mine better considering it had those SMAS backgrounds, thus the sky in my BG GFX was more detailed, and blended better; I forgot to view aspect on standard GFX; the sky has only one color, and no fade-off colors, but I still like it better than your original colors. So maybe try using a sky color that goes better with Green hills.
The dirt in your ground needs to be a little less orange, and the dots are green; they should be barely darker or lighter than the soil part. Make the grass kind of darker to blend better with the depth of darkness of the soil, or if all the ground is too dark; then make it all a tiny bit lighter. Try that. For kicks let's just see you do square cement blocks instead of those donuts, or make your own "square-like" cement block. I'll make a version and show you in a little bit. |

Do others think it would look better turquoise? I think it looks good right now. I don't see a need to change it. |

It looks nicer, but technically, blue hills are more realistic. I won't go into the technical aspects of it due to the age of many of the hackers here (let's just say it has to do with light), but if you go outside and look, considering you aren't in a flatland, you should see the mountains in the distance should be blue-ish. Try to go for a turquoise tint or something. |

Very nice; except a couple of things: First add a little more purple to your sky, and the outer outline on your hills is the same color as the sky, turn that a darker green.
See here is a screenshot from my hack the perfect example of colors; it's got beautiful colors; you should make the ground a nicer color too. [img=http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/4342/supermarioworld00133pj.th.png] |

hmm...
Now that one person tested this out of the blue method, I'm sure almost everyone wants to make a similer game... ...And then someone will use ASM skills to actually MAKE DK, and *insert dejavu scene here* Also, these mini levels would be fun to make... ...I sugest open roof and walls... but, Its up to you. |

Andy Try This: Make the hills in the back a realistic green color; then the spots a lighter shade; then make the sky a purplish-blue, and this is just my opinion, I really don't like the donut blocks . But it's your hack whatever you like better; It would look a little more "sleek" with blocks that are more square, but it's your thing. Try the colors out and see if we like them. |

I know I could do that but I already have a cave world. |
Deleted User Posts: 52/-7750 |
Just make it have the cave look like in Donut Plains 2....that is a very simple solution. |

ExGFX are out of the question. I couldn't put ExGFX in a rom if my life depended on it.
The overworld for this level is outside so it wouldn't make sense for it to be a cave level.
Every world has somthing different for the outside wall. |

I don't really think it's a whole lt better. maybe you could use something completely different there? |

I like the green better Andy, but why not make the outside wall something different too, maybe like a custom cement block like the ones from Yoshi's Island, or maybe even make your, be original and creative. By the way, please change the background, It gives the level an "outside look, but if you were "outside why would you be trapped in a square maze, do you know what I mean? Try a machinery type look, or a cave look. Fool around with it, but in general the maze idea is great, keep up the good work. |

I should have specified more - when I said change the palette, I didn't mean completely I think you should change the shade of green to a bit darker or lighter so it looks unique. You could also do the same for the brownish color around the outside |
