There are 7 or so Kroz games, so if it doesn't look too familiar, you might've played one of the other games in the series (though I have no idea why someone would refer to any of the other games as "Shrine")

The Kroz games are considered abandonware, and can be downloaded at a number of sites. Shouldn't be hard to find one via google.

Hrm.... I'm 99% sure that's it. The exact graphics look a little different than I had remembered but it's been years after all. I've been asking people about this for like 3 years and no one had been able to answer me, and you did it within hours of my post. Thanks 100 times over!

Now only to find out how to obtain it and play it...

Return to Kroz, I believe. It went under the alternate title "Shrine of Kroz".

I've got one that will stump everyone. It's not a console game, it's a DOS dungeon crawler that was made with ascii character graphics. The best name I can recall for it was "Shrine" which may or may not have been its actual name but that's what all the older kids called it. We played it at a daycare center I went to around 2nd or 3rd grade, but all the older kids would never let us play on the computers. I only played it maybe once or twice but it seemed awesome.

It had about 20-40 levels or so. Your character was a diamont shaped character which had a whip. The whip consisted of rapidly changing '/' and '\' characters which would appear in the text slot next to you in which ever direction you were holding.

I don't remember much about the levels, but there was lava in some of them that was necessary to pass and it was very damaging.

I wish I could meet somebody from that time in my life to ask them about this but the owner of that daycare has since passed away and I have no idea where any of the people I knew there went off to. I went there about 15 years ago. any ideas?

Hah hah, Rare was involved? That's just rich. I was thinking about how the ridiculous collecting of time orbs to continue reminded me of Rare, and then the generally poor gameplaly, and then this... That's great.

But I'd rather blame Milton Bradley.

No, there's worse out there. Trust me.

And if you think it's bad, don't blame MB... blame Rare.

I own it too; I couldn't be sure if he had blond hair (He apparently doesn't), and was too lazy to go look.

Ironsword was the one with Fabio on the cover, yes. (I should know, I own it.)

Long shot... could it be Time Lord?

I was actually thinking Ironsword myself, but I don't think there are any "castles"in Ironsword. The first Wizards and Warriors had them, but not until later in the game.

Neither guy on those covers had blond hair, anyway, I don't think.

In Wizards And Warriors (and its sequal, Iron Sword, which I remember better, so ), there was a guy that meets your description, but the guy wasn't wearing armor on the sticker, only in game.

(As long as we're nostalgia-ing, anyone remember Conquest Of The Crystal Palace? I've asked before, but I don't remember anyone ever saying they played the silly thing.)

Yeah it was on the NES, not SNES.
There was "Ghosts and Goblins" for the nes but that wasnt it.

It was a very non-mainstream game and if it helps the art style on the cover was the classic NES Live-Actionish Action shot.

I dont want to play it as much as I just want the name of it.
Been bugging me for months.

System: NES
Cart Sticker: I think that it was a blonde guy in grey armor with a weapon of some type.
Genre: Platformer
Desc:
You took control of the guy on the sticker and all I really remember is going around and killing stuff as well as collecting orbs.
I think the background was mainly a castle type setting.

Sorry its so vague but I was younger than 7 the last time I saw/played it.

Sounds like Super Ghouls and Ghosts ... but I don't think it is because of the orb part.

You do get "orbs" after beating bosses in Super Castlevania IV though.

Try those ... I guess.

...Wow. I just went and beat the game in 45 minutes. I actually thought that man was part of the game. I was saddened by the lack of story. I could've come up with a nice plot.

Just curious - what drugs were Kemco on when they came up with THAT boxart? I mean, boxart isn't always everything but some people might have been turned off by the game based on that!

I remember the guy was in the ads for the game too... just really odd. I don't understand their marketing strategy.
