The best Tales of-game for me definitively is Tales of Destiny 2 for PS2. Its Ougis are supreme (though physical atacks are almost useless and deal maybe two- or three-digit type damage ...), the music and graphics are very neat although there are games which have better ones - but one thing I miss in some games - speed. That is exactely the reason I would adore ToD2 for PS2 (even if I had a PS2 - this game was only released in Japan, and my TV definitively cannot run NTSC and 60 Hz games).

I tried the ToP GBA port one, it is not bad, but either it is due to ... emulation or something that game runs very slow (on VBA, all other ones run in normal speed). Thumbs up for the huge sprites, as seeing it on that little portable SNES. Does the cartridge runs as fast as in the SNES version ?
They could have at least included the gradients in the status screens and the frame, without that, opening the menu just seems to be very plain

I am a BIG fan of Tales games, and this is is pretty good... Although my favorite is Symphonia, but this one is one of the best. I highy reccomend it, and finally we get a GBA Tales game.

I also don't know who translated it, but if it was Nintendo, they aren't living up to their usual standards... some stuff just sounds odd.

But it's a good port. Enough extra bells and whistles added, and I've gotten farther in this than I have in the SNES version so that's proof enough I'm into it.

Now that I think about it that does make sense. The new graphics do look a lot like the first Tales of Destiny on the PSX (definitely not ToD II though).

I'll probably just wait for more reviews on this before I pick it up. Right now I'm pretty obsessed with the Minish Cap anyways, to hold me over.

I highly recommend it, if not to just support it's launch, you know?

I'm in love with it and I can't put it down!

The voice acting could've been a lot better (I'm not a fan of dubs at all...), but I'm just happy it got released here.

I had originally played the SNES fan translated rom on my old computer, which died and I never got to finish it. But since this has came out, I'm happy that my DS/GBA collection isn't nearly as lonely.

As for the improved look, I've heard that all of the sprites and updated designs were more accurate to the character drawings and ported from the PSX version.

I haven't had any difficulty with it being slow at all though.

The english version has really, really, REALLY shitty voice acting, and the GBA port has been reported as being annoyingly slow. Add in the fact that I'm not particulary fond of the new graphics, and I believe I have enough reasons to stick to my translated SNES rom.

The PSX version of ToP is currently being fan translated as well, and it has all the new features the GBA version has, plus some more.

Yeah.

Really, I might just get one of these and just play the US translated rom again, among with other games.

Some of you might be thinking "What's the big deal with playing it on the computer?" Well, I still don't have a computer of my own, so this is the family's, and it's in the living room whereas my room is basically the entire basement, and area where I enjoy my games a lot more. So, being able to play games on a TV, alone, an whatnot gives me a better experience.

Who's excited?

I remember playing 10-12 hours or so of this game emulated years ago, and I loved it. Don't know why I just stopped playing it though, I just kind of ... stopped.

So I'm pretty excited, being a fan of the Tales games, this was always my favorite one for some odd reason. However, the one thing I do not like about the GBA port, is the new graphics. Compare:

SNES:

Looks awesome, almost Seiken Densetsu 3 quality there.

GBA:

Personally I don't like the new look, but maybe that's just me. Still, it's nothing that's going to prevent me from buying this and probably enjoying it to the end.
