I can see why the YI font is so complex. Even I can't find them. And since I want to use the YI text and converted to my ExGFX in Mario World. It's a good thing that I have the YY-CHR. |

For a headerless ROM it's 04BD2Fh. And you could edit it if you find an editor that allows changing the width of the visible window to 8 pixels.

Thanks for all the answers. It would seem that I had already found the font, it just wouldn't (and still isn't) display(ing) right. Judging from the other thread then the font should display like this:
In yy-char hoewer, it comes out like this (minor 56k): Font in YY-Char Some capital letters (A-V) displays, although some aren't showing up that good. Non-capital letters aren't visible at all. I tried to dump it using Feidian, but the d*** thing just won't work. I also tried every bitplane in Tilemolester, but nothing helped. Has anyone ever viewed the font correctly in a tileeditor (other then feidian) before? 'Cause 2Bpp doesn't work too well (although it's the best I've seen so far). Edit: Seems like the format of the font is 8x12 pixels. Guess that rules out most editors... |

Nice Cellar! I have been looking for these fonts too, so I could switch them out of the 1.2 ROM and into the Eggvine working Rom (1.0 right? Been awhile) |

For a US 1.1 YI ROM with a header, the glyph bitmaps start at 0x4bf2ff. Each glyph is 8 pixels by 12 pixels and one bit per pixel. The table of widths is immediatly before the glyph bitmaps.

Oh, if he's talking about font, then yes, I guess YY-CHr or another tile editor would be his best bet.
I never actually got Ycompress to work - I needed a headered ROM, and as soon as I put one on, it messed up in EggVine. So I'm sticking with the basic GFX now. But I wish you luck. The font will be a bit annoying to edit I would think, just because of the fact you have such limited room. But if you manage to do it, then good job |

He wants to change the font, not the text. |

If you wanna edit text, just use a hex editor and load a table. It's much easier. If you don't know how, PM me |

The text is on Layer 3, right? If so, search for it in 2bpp mode.
Also... Well... YI is SMW 2, but this forum is only for SMW 1. Special offer: Thread move for free. * *) However, this reply costs $30. |

This question should go in the rom hacking forum since this is SMW hacking, not SMW 2 hacking. you might get a better answer there.
For your question, if i'm understanding corectly I think you should use yy-chr, open the file and change the view to GB 2bbp..something like that and scroll down untill you see the font. Most text are in that format. Hope this helps. |

Posting here since it's Yoshis Island (SMW2) I'm wondering about.
I've been playing around with FuSoYas y-compress, but for some reason I can't find the font used in the dialogue when I look through the decompressed bin-file (other graphics display fine). I can't find it in the rom either. So...am I blind? Is the font contained in the extracted file generated by Ycompress, and what bitplane in that case? PS. A thousand pardons if this question has been asked (1000 times) before. I'm currently having some problems with finding this boards search-function... |
