There's probably some movie or song named Trash that won some obscure award.

I get nothing unusual. Maybe because I know how to use search engines, and put the term in quotes.

From an E-mail that's been floating around:

We should all be happy that Crash won because it boldly said some very important things, namely:

1. When crazy Muslims come to kill your kids, Jesus will protect you.

2. The best hope in life for batshit crazy upper class white women is to have a faithful servant who will listen to their abuse and not quit their jobs.

3. Racist cops are all really good people underneath.

4. Liberals are all really potential murderers.

5. Black hoodlums do in fact carjack. But they draw the line at participating in the slave trade. That's best left to elderly Asian men.

Considering it's an obvious play on words (or whatever literary term it is), there could be a lot of hits ofr "glad trash won." So obviously, it's going to lead you to more results.
That's what I thought of. But I didn't actually do that google search to confirm...

So perhaps they simply screwed around with the autocorrection algorithm and added won and oscar to it.

It's odd, from some testing.

glad crash won = corrects

glad crash lost = doesn't correct

glad crash win = doesn't correct

glad crash bags = corrects

glad crash oscar = corrects

But then, it's only for glad...happy doesn't find anything, for example.

I even tried capitalizing the C in Crash, putting the word in different quotations, even in brackets.

Same thing. trash appears.

Always.

That would make sense; searching for anything else with the word crash doesn't try to correct it, but if I search for "glad crash" and then another word it sometimes tries to correct it.

I just wonder if it's as simple as it associating "Glad" (the brand) with a product they make (trash bags)... maybe Google's had a lot of searches for Glad's products before.

*shrugs*

This really makes me wonder a bit. Google claims things like this are just from search results and reference keywords, as in the debaucle with political results of searching 'failure' and the like. Still, something like this seems a bit different, as there don't seem to be any viable pages to get that result.

You know, as in crash won the oscar.

The results are...odd. Somebody at Google must not have been very happy about this.
