The screens are of a PS2 remake of the two original generation GBA games.

So we may end up seeing these as well

Sky: Playing SRW pretty much got me hooked on all mecha series Seriously just trying to research some of the series and figure out who is what and what's exactly happening in games is pretty cool.

Which, according to the Famitsu review, is a very, very, VERY fine game. (9/9/8/8 = 34/40)

I've seen all the Toonami showings (Big O, Gundam Wing, ect), Evangelion, the Patlabor movies, and some episodes of Macross, so that just makes the series being Japan exclusive up until now suck that much more. I've also seen Vandread, but if they made that into SRW, I'd have to shoot someone or something.

I've got to say, I would probably enjoy SRW games more if I were more familiar with the source material. I've seen most Gundam stuff and Evangelion...but that's about the extent of my knowledge of the topic.

Due to my lack of Japanese-ism in my custom dictionary, I'm not sure I get the full scope of OMG in those pictures. I think the dates at the bottom of the last image are release dates for SRW's up to date, and that red robot has a certain Gundam-look about it, but that's all I know. But hell, if everyone else is doing it, it must be cool...

*ALSO JUST CAME*

By the way, SRWG, what's that? I picked up on Rai's translation via ROMhacking.net.

And for the Eva part of the storyline, you got Gundams fighting angels, stopping Third Impact, and a bonus option to not let Asuka die. =P

Damnit, I wish Rai would at least update his thread on the SRWA translation.

Actual game events in Alpha 3

Sharon Apple concert: Information High is kicking your ass as your pilots can't use any of their skills. Against enemies that have high ass evasion.

Several turns in, Basara shows up.

SUP GUYS, LISTEN TO MY SONG.

As he kicks Sharon Apple's ass and saves the day.

a bit of a bump, but a relevant one.

Atlus has a trailer up on their page of the games, for those of you who are interested in what they're like.

Too bad they don't show any of their translation work....

and i highly doubt they'll bring any of the other SRW games over, sadly... too many licensing issues.

Macross/EVA are huge parts of the Alpha storyline. Especially in Alpha 3 when you go through events of Macross 7 and Macross plus. And you have several levels dedicated to End of Evangelion.

I would think it's possible; There's a collection (3-5, maybe?) for PS2, which would make a good port.

You said penetration. XD

What's really a question is, if these games are succesful enough in English, will they port the PS2 Super Robot Taisens, Wars, whatever, to the US/EUR?

I'm mostly a fan of the Gundam side of these games, particularly as I know little about the other universes involved (other than Evangelion, which I assume is part of it), but something like this is definitely nice to see, and I may need to check it out. Always a good sign to see more mecha market penetration in the US.

I've already been waiting for Rai's translation of Super Robot Wars Alpha for the PSX. I've been a fan since the complete translation of Taisen 3 for the SNES, and Alpha's list includes even more recognizable Gundam characters (storyline pertaining to GW: Endless Waltz, OMG), and quite a bit of relevant storyline is dedicated to Evangelion (Seeing as Earth plays a big role in the stories, the preservation of it from the Angels/SEELE does call for priority in the game). I also believe Macross is involved, but I'm not to sure.

The fact that they're finally bringing the GBA games to America shows how fast the anime industry is growing over here. They wouldn't even consider it before because honestly: how much of America do you think was watching these robot shows back when these games were first coming out?

It's just a pity that the OG series caters more to original units then Gundams and such. =P

Oh, that's OK I guess...

*notices that the games are for the GBA*

Oh... to hell with OK, that's 2 new RPG's to look forward to! Atlus showed much Nintendo love today with the announcement of this and Contact for the DS.
